Ascendancy: The Beginning

in #blockchain8 years ago

I think a good place to start would be a quick introduction to what Ascendancy is, what Ascendancy will be able to do and how this can help you.

So, What is Ascendancy?

Over the past 11 months me (Richard Aldridge) and a friend (Andrew Penn) have been working on a #crypto secured framework. We are both developers but before we could work on the code side of things there were many issues that we had to wrap our brains around and try and figure out. About 3 or 4 months ago we named this project Ascendancy.

“Ascendancy is a Modular Decentralized Application Framework created to simplify the process of engaging in cryptocurrency projects and allowing users to develop their own decentralized application. Applications can be as simple as a store, website/blog or as complex as a fully featured cryptocurrency.”
-- Ascendancy Whitepaper

What will Ascendancy be able to do?

We know there are going to be features that are not even put in the whitepaper yet. When developing a project like this you find problems that you had not thought about before and you will need to change things a little, But I will explain here what we are putting into Ascendancy.

The Framework. Ascendancy will basically be a big empty box with lots of tools to be able to do cool things with. The box will be run by our own token (ASC) to keep the network working and secure.

Inside this framework we will have a theoretical layer that holds third-party blockchains. When a new dAPP is announced and set up it will create a new contained blockchain that will not affect the framework. The dAPP will have all the power of Ascendancy, our tools and libraries without the workload of creating their blockchain and application from scratch.

DPoS. Adopting a DPoS (Delegated Proof-of-Stake) Consensus, Ascendancy will make use of Delegated Nodes to secure the network and confirm transactions. There will be 101 community voted delegated nodes which have access to forging while they remain delegated. Delegation happens by voting if you are a trusted member of the community and/or hold a lot of ASC. The more ASC you have the more chance you have of becoming a delegated node to forge.

Libraries. One of our high priority targets is to create a well thought out and tried libraries (programming includes) to make it easier for people to create dAPPs, functions that will be used every time. This has yet to be thought out in detail and we can update shortly on this.

Summary

as you see Ascendancy is just starting on its journey into the crypto world, there is a lot to work on, a lot of ideas and we are all very excited. Please check out our website and whitepaper https://www.ascendancy.io, We have an IPO starting on Dec 30, 2016 20:00 GMT, Please head over to our site to register after this time. We will release more details on IPO shortly.

P.S. We are looking for staff — https://www.ascendancy.io/#/careers
