Turning the database inside-out: immutable append only logs everywhere
https://www.confluent.io/blog/turning-the-database-inside-out-with-apache-samza/
Found this great article which proposes splitting the idea of a database into separate services for reading and writing data.
The write part would be implemented using an immutable append only log, obviously I couldn't help drawing a parallel to blockchain technologies.
Very easy to imagine the write portion living on a distributed platform and users having their own readers (materialized views) for making queries which wouldn't have to live on the blockchain (and probably shouldn't).
Has anyone built something like this yet?
PS: First post, am I doing it right?
