How is data (text and images) recorded on Steemit blockchain?
According to coinprism (see link below), in bitcoin only 80 bytes of data can be recorded, in a variable called OP_RETURN.
Is there something like an OP_RETURN variable where data is recorded on Steemit blockchain? If so, what is the size of it in bytes?
Steemit called my attention after I read an article on cointelegraph (see link below) about Steemit being a blockchain social platform. It's one of the most creative usage of blockchain technology and Steemit may be the first to explore blockchain as a social platform.
The structure is nothing like Bitcoin. It is able to store kb if data per Trx.
I think the block chain is simply the system linked to the steam power and payment system giving it value. The storage itself is probably on a centralised server. It would bloat out extremely quickly. just guessing though, I've not tried mining yet...
On ethereaum.org open chat, I asked the moderator how data is recorded on Ethereum blockchain. The moderator said that saving data on Ethereum blockchain is very expensive, and costs lots of ethers. Then, the moderator advised that data (like long texts and images) should be recorded on IPFS (the InterPlanetary File System).
