Greetings tatami terrors.....time to hit the gym. If you are new here, this is the ongoing serial that covers the white belt curriculum at our gym. If it doesn't inspire you to start training, it is because you already train and can catch some key details to fill in your game.

This lesson is a follow on from the Knee on Belly lesson ( https://steemit.com/bjj/@zekepickleman/white-belt-curriculum-submissions-from-knee-on-belly ) because this is where you progress to if you do not secure the submission. This is a REALLY nice technique for beginners and people who don't train at all. I remember being terrified of getting into fights as a school boy because the thought of someone sitting on me and punching me in the face was too scary. Years of training and I am a little more comfortable with the concept knowing that I can avoid that easily in a street fight, and can escape if it happens.

Key personal oberservations/take-aways:

  • Focusing upon that other leg is a good way not to get mounted for sure.
  • Positioning those elbows really is great for approaching the position to escape, and stops them from climbing very high on you ( towards head) and immobilizing you.
  • Bridging against a resisting opponent takes a good amount of energy.......so don't half-ass it or you will just have to repeat and waste energy.
  • It is surprising how many times I get the escape like at 4:35. People rarely defend a 2-hand grip like that from an inferior position and you give up very little defensively by going for it.

Please share your mount faves, and your funny stories (which seem to be getting increasingly popular in these posts!) Lets continue the STEEMit BJJ discussion!

Interesting that people were not moving during the instructions. In our gym we always change place to see better as the instructor explains a technique...

Those people in the back couldn't get all the details he was saying IMO

Yah it is strange. The old school, instructors would have everyone on one side. Ryan has always had a circle, keeps rotating his angles, and asks people to change sides sometimes.

@fada.emma was here.

Cheers 🍻 @zekepickleman
Keep glowing Sir
