Time to hit the mats you submission wrestling sharks. As a review, this is an ongoing series that walks you through our school's white belt curriculum. This is intended as a look inside our club, demystification of the training for those looking to start, good start for people drinking from the BJJ fire-hose, filling in of the holes of advanced practitioners, and tips for instructors.

Today, we get into what the new folks have been jonesing for.....THE SUBMISSIONS! Knee on belly is a fantastic position to score point in tournaments, gain control over fights, or advance to mount. Hence, it can be a surprise place to catch a submission.

Personal observations:

  • 2 types of arm bars is better than one! Options.
  • Shaking the collar to get that grip works in the mount and other places as well.
  • I LOVE to be thinking of advancing the position while threatening the submission.
  • Falling to the side in that choke seems like giving up position if you don't have it sunk in, but is a quick tap if you do.

What's your favourite sub from Knee on Belly?

How have you been?

Haha Fada how have you been? I am willing to bet that the people you see replying to this post are more of a champion than I am but we all learn daily.
