I like to use coinexchange.io But another way would be to use block trades and convert your Steem into BTC that is sent directly to your crypto wallet or an exchange like Gemini where you can directly change your BTC to USD and then send that directly to your bank account.
If you want less of a paper trace I would suggest buying 1oz gold bullion coins with your BTC (bullion exchanges, Apmex, provident, JM Bullion) and then going to your local coin shop to sell them.
