Bitshares - State of the Network - 14th November 2017

in #bitshares3 years ago

Welcome to the 61st Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. A weekly report focusing on the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

Bitshares - State of the Network - 14th November 2017

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.

Observation from this week

This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

  • The Bitshares governance model is in full swing with 4 worker proposals currently being funded and 3 new proposed workers being voted on. 1 of the proposals already has the votes required to become funded on the proposed start date.

  • @lzmlam (Zicen, Bitshares Witness) and Bitcrab (Long time Bitshares supporter) have proposed a new worker proposal titled 'BTS Joint Marketing Campaign of Exchanges'. The proposal aims to work with 3 Exchanges to hold co-marketing activities to raise awareness and increase the popularity with Chinese investors. As members of the YOYOW team they have executed similar campaigns in the past with great success. This proposal currently has enough shareholder support to become and active worker on the start date proposed (24th-Nov). You can find all the details HERE

  • @abit has proposed a core development worker proposal, which if approved will see him commit 20 hours per month for 4 months at a rate of $2000 BitUSD per month for further development of Bitshares-Core; task include code review, bug fixes, new feature development, documentation, mentoring and coordination. The worker is using a USD escrow which will see 3/4 signatories sign off on any payment. Abitmore is a long time Bitshares supporter who has contributed a huge amount to the Bitshares ecosystem in the past; He is also the highest ranked witness in terms of shareholder votes. You can find the proposal HERE. This worker is currently just short of being approved by shareholders at the time of writing but I expect this will be fully approved by the start date of 1st-Dec as you would be hard pressed to find anyone in the community that does not recognise the value that Abitmore has and will bring to the platform

  • BlockchainProjectsBV has proposed a worker proposal that would see them deploy and maintain core infrastructure for the Bitshares network. The aim of this proposal is to provide core infrastructure to increase the networks redundancy and reduce its reliance on business partners. Core services would include a faucet, public API nodes as well as seed nodes with a focus on geographically distributed load balanced servers. The worker also proposes to work on development of Bitshares docker containers allowing for rapid deployment of nodes as well as servers for the testnet. You can find the full details of this proposal HERE

  • There is a lot of confusion or hype stemming from articles posted on cointelegraph and Forbes with comments such as "[Waves] is implementing new technology to enable the network to process thousands of transactions per minute and become what is claimed as the "fastest decentralized blockchain" platform in the world.". A+ for marketing! But their claims fall short (very short) of reality. Waves has claimed on their stress test they achieved "An average throughput of 2,000 txs/minute. Peak bandwidth was 17,000 txs/minute.". In relation to the quote "fastest decentralized blockchain" all I can say is that Graphene based networks such as Steem and Bitshares can process much higher rates than Waves has stated. In fact the Bitshares network was stress tested back in March 2017 on geographically distributed nodes with peak processing rates of 3,328 transactions PER SECOND (199,680 transactions per minute) more than 10x the Waves stress test results. I know this to be a fact as I was a node operator in the stresstest and look forward to contributing to the next stress test. Another interesting note is that Bitshares transactions can contain multiple operations (For example, you could include an operation to cancel an order and create a new order in a single transaction - this example is being used by trading bots that operate on the Bitshares network). The stresstest also included a component to test the amount of operations that could be processed on the network; The peak was 14,035 Operations Per Second (842,100 per minute). Bitshares has demonstrated the ability to process 3,328 TPS. You can view the Bitshares stresstest HERE

  • The Bit Universe team have released an updated version of the BitShares Wallet & Trade mobile app (v, You can find it on the Google Play store HERE

  • Bitshares wallets at PoloniEX are in maintenance mode at the moment; Bitshares developers are in touch with PoloniEX to find out why this is the case and assist if required.

  • CoinCentral has done a great introduction piece titled 'What is Bitshares? The Ultimate Guide for Beginners'. The educational piece looks into the Graphene ecosystem, technical specs, MPAs, DPOS, Governance and the DEX itself. Recommend everybody check out this resource as it might be a good tool to help new users get a better understanding of the platform. You can find the article HERE

  • @kalinh has done a good comparison of the two authentications models available to Bitshares users. This comparison compares the Wallet and Account models and explores the different advantages of each model. You can find the article HERE

  • This week’s Bitshares hangout recording has been published and is available HERE

  • Current registered wallets/accounts within the Bitshares network is 461891; an increase of 4969 wallets/accounts since last week

  • The last asset registered this week is asset #2367 and it is named 'OPEN.XPO' registered by 'openledger-wallet' with the description 'OPEN.XPO asset is backed 1:1 by the real XPO on Xronos blockchain, and can be deposited and withdrawn using gateway operated by OpenLedger ApS, company registered in Denmark, part of EU. ( ) XRONOS mission is to create truly decentralized, stable and massively-applied payment instrument. For more info please visit:'.

Rumor is that Binance will list BTS in December. Not investment advice. ;)

Everyone should do their research well, but bts is a good investment.

@steempower do you have any idea when will will start accepting Bitshares for their remittance service? I'm tired of Bitcoin's high fee. Please let me know. Thank you!

I think you can visit and see the timeline (in its page) to know details. Also you can login zephyr page and raise one ticket to their team to ask directly.

I already did that days ago. No answer from them.

Its always great to see these reports. So thorough and it's almost impossible to sift through Telegram. Any thoughts on a switch back to the Forums?

Thanks again for all these great news! I am pleased to see the rise of BTS STEALTH, now I want to invest into it too and will try to find a way to do so right now!

Namaste :)

I am going to look into becoming a lifetime member. Bitshares is the one platform I wish I got into sooner, I have had my eyes on it for a little while now.

Seems i'm out of luck with bitshares, locked myself out of €75,- of bts :-(

Somebody needs to be working with Bittrex to open up BTS BTC trading again. I am done with BTS for now because of this issue.

Could you explain why? I honestly have little use for BTS being on bittrex, as i can just sell my bts on openledger and send it to anywhere from there, i got into this in the first place because allot of my friends had there accounts closed on bittrex.

The Bitshares Foundation is working directly with Bittrex to relist.

Thank you @steempower for sharing all these information. Definitely a fan of the DAC model developed here... all entrepreneurs should use Bitshares!

Thanks for the information

Thanks @steempower for sharing updates of an amazing DEX platform... Going neck to neck with Steem in terms of marketcap.

Blockchain technology is doing so well as all cryptocurrencies rely on it just as bitshares recently a landsec which is listed on the FTSE 100-listed firm. Conceded it deals with a lot of contracts from leasing properties to hiring contractors.

When asked if blockchain technology would be used in thier part of the business, Chief Executive Robert Noel replied in the affirmative.

"Absolutely... If you look at the way what we provide, which is services to business, and those services are around contract, anything that speeds up archaic land law, and contract law, and leasing law, etcetera, will be welcomed," Noel told CNBC in a TV interview.

Hey @ st

Hey @steempower I am super excited with the future and growth of BTS and assuming it will hit 1$ mark this year by Dec. 2018.
Thanks again .

I need to start using bitshares, seems contradictory to me that I'm a big enthusiast of decentralization and I'm using centralized exchanges!

Thanks for the very useful sharing

Kindly join “100 SBD giveaway” on my steemit that will end on next Friday ! Warm regards :)

Thank you Steempower, with your post I will invest in it, I'm very careful when it comes to investing digital due to fraudulent activities most especially in Nigeria. But am beginning to understand about Bitcoin investment. Thank you

thanks @steempower for share this information

Good info

Excellent post. I've been falling in love with Bitshares and I believe it has amazing potential.

I just recently invested some money in BTS and plan to invest more and more with each paycheck. Bitshares, steem, and IOTA are my top 3 right now. :)

why those three? you are impressed with their recent annual performance?

<3 Bithshares!!

Thanks a lot @steempower for sharing this updates of an amazing DEX platform, Going neck to neck with Steem in terms of marketcap.....

I couldn't figure out how to send my BTS from Bittrex to the DEX, so I had to send to Poloniex. Now I see their wallet is under contruction. :-[

It isn't clear how to send the coin to the DEX. It is some kind of special use case, unlike all the other coins.

You simply send the BTS to your Bitshares account name where you would normally put in the address. Hope that helps.

I'm trying to send it from an exchange. Does that still work that way?

nice explanation and good information

Thanks for sharing

hi sister plz coll 01700817832

thanks, nice information ..

Thank you @steempower for sharing all these information. Bitshares is better than bitcoin. BTC is fast few days charging high fees. Bitcoin Transactions is so expensive. This is very Good.

THX for your effort. But me(@lzmlam) is not zicen but zhaomu(zhaomu @OpenLedger in telegram group)

This is showing me how I should invest into bitshares because it is great. Thanks for all the info it has taught me a lot about bitshares. Thanks.

it is very useful those are dealing with cyptocurrency ! thank you so much to sharing so much information.

you done super job on steemit cryptocurrency bitcoin blockchain i like it very much.

This the great post and full of knowledge. In this post er learn many of new things and ways of also earn.

usefull post. thank you

Great post as always.

This is what I find incredibly frustrating. Where is the marketing of Bitshares? Why don't people know it is the fastest Blockchain in the land?

And before anyone dives in saying I should market it myself, I already got a job and marketing ain't my skillset. The sheer number of people completely oblivious to Bitshares in the crypto sphere alone is astonishing.

Thanks for sharing this important info with all of us

Thanks to Post

such an informative post. its like you just post mar-tamed the whole Bitshare system. Amazing .

nice reports!

Hello Bitshares and Steemit friends, I have thought of a great idea that would benefit both the STEEM and Bitshares ecosystems. Why don't we simply combine their powers? Please have a look at my proposal which I just posted here!

Thanks for your time :)

bitshares is moving up nicely. No rush, No pump, getting ready for takeoff. LIKE! 👍

Interesting info. I wish it was just as simple to get some Bitshares. Been stuggling with it for two days now. But I'm a believer: I won't give up ;-)

An easy way is to use or from your Steem wallet click BUY STEEM and it will take you to the Blocktrades swap. You can exchange many currencies for Bitshares and you simply put in your Bitshares account name and click generate wallet to find the address to send it to. Hope that helps!

That worked like a charm! Thanks!

Nice Project!

very good post you..✌✌✌✌

Love these reports as always. :)

Informative post, good article.

Thank you for your information.

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit]( Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

This message was created by a bot. It is part of the ongoing fight against spam and phishing attacks on steemit. If you did not use short links in your post and feel you have received this message in error you can contact @fubar-bdhr on discord or @fubar.bdhr on steemit chat to report the issue.
