A blockchain network is a complex system that involves a variety of actors that cannot be trusted. Its protocol is designed to ensure that every actor has an incentive to cooperate and that the costs of defection are higher than the potential gains.

Today has seen the price of BTC rally to test $10,000 USD amid the bullish response to the increasing institutional presence in the cryptocurrency markets. In other trading news, fee-free exchange Cobinhood has announced the introduction of trading pairs for the ninth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, IOTA. In international news, Russian cryptocurrency Youtuber Pavel Makushin has been found dead in his apartment. The CEO of cybersecurity firm, Fireeye, has also discussed the challenges posed by cryptocurrencies in an interview today.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a multinational audit and consultancy firm, has acquired a minority stake ‎in Chinese startup VeChain, according to a press release May 4. VeChain Global Technology Holding Limited is a blockchain service provider specializing in anti-counterfeiting, supply chain management, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

🗞 Hyperloop TT Envisions A Transportation System Made ‘Frictionless’ By Blockchain Technology

In August 2013, the aerospace firm SpaceX released a paper describing a new mode of transportation, the hyperloop.

Lauding the technology as a "fast and inexpensive" way to move "people and goods," the document presents a vision for an enclosed tube in which vehicles can travel "at over 700 mph." The vehicles moving through these tubes would rest on "a cushion of air" similar to those that cover the surfaces of air hockey tables except that, in this configuration, the vehicle rather than the tube would be generating the cushion.

Reward Expert used Google Trends traffic data for keywords such as Litecoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency in an effort to gauge US states interest levels for cryptocurrency during a three month period this year. The company then determined a weighted average and ranked US states by interest and usage.
