Bitcoin is booming in India, and the top trading platforms in the country Zebpay, Coinsecure, Unocoin, and Bitxoxo have seen unprecedented trade volumes and exchange sign-ups. However, in the midst of the bitcoin fever taking place in the region, the country’s Income Tax Department of India (ITDI) has been investigating exchanges and are researching the “taxability of bitcoin” assets.
Apart from bitcoin or other currencies, all the mobile and immobile properties of an individual who has made significant gains in cryptocurrencies will be under scrutiny.

Bitcoin’s tumultuous December continued this week as the South Korean government expressed concerns at the lack of regulatory control over cryptocurrency exchanges.
“Cryptocurrency speculation has been irrationally overheated in Korea. The government can’t leave the abnormal situation of speculation any longer.”

🗞 Crypto Exchange Poloniex to Impose Customer ID Requirements
One of the longest-running cryptocurrency-only exchanges is taking steps to bring its customer registration processes in line with the wider industry.
Announced on Dec. 27, U.S.-based exchange service Poloniex revealed it will soon disable all legacy accounts, that is unless these users complete the same verification process as its newer account users who must complete know-your-customer (KYC) due diligence. The exchange said a deadline for identification verification will be released within the first quarter of 2018.

Ridiculous, I hate this communist system that I am in. They tell you not to invest and then are happy to tax you on any money you make...

what the fork indeed... i wasn't a fan of the NYC agreement, but I would have preferred the likes of Eric Voorhees etc. to be at its helm, instead of an unknown group trying to capitalize on their holdings in a rather illicit manner.
