Bitcoin is about to have another hardfork

Rumor is that Bitcoin is about to have another hardfork this coming November 2017, with the original bitcoin adopting segwit2X, and that this might not be good for Bitcoin.

I know that I should only invest money that I am willing to loose but still, I don't want to loose too much once this segwit2X is implemented. So I'm really at a lost if I should just transfer to my bitcoins to a safer altcoin (probably litecoin), or should I stick with this and just ride off the wave. I am not too technically savvy so I can't really go into github and make decisions based on the PIPs posted there., but I'm reading articles about segwit2X not really being good for bitcoin since it does not really promise to address this issue of having long transaction times and large fees.

Another thing. I was sold into investing money into bitcoin as I read that it was immune to inflation since it had a hard cap of 21M or something like that, which is good, but with all this hardforking and altcoins (ICO's) coming in everyday. Is this not just similar to a fiat inflation in the long run?

I really need advice here., I'm a total NOOB to all this cryptocurrency thing so I'd really appreciate advice.
