Vitalik Buterin: ‘Serenity will help Ethereum expand 1000 times’
Speaking to thousands of blockchain developers at Devcon4, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said the latest upgrade, Serenity, was designed to boost network power on all fronts. It will increase the scalability by 1000 times.
The road to Serenity may sound intriguing, but the followers of ETH should be calm. As Ethereum has evolved into the world’s second-largest electronic money, many ideas and concepts have been dropped in the trash, including ‘super shear’, which has lost Casper’s chance and has failed. ‘Consensus-by-bet’ (an assortment of economic consensus protocols).
But with Serenity, Buterin believes that Ethereum will fly. Implementing this new update will show us an important shift towards a proof-of-stake model that promises to make the network more scalable and energy-efficient.
When giving up proof-of-work, users will use their own ‘stake’ ether to run the network and earn bonuses.
Buterin thinks everything is almost ready and ‘Serenity is the world’s computer because it really makes sense.’
The four-stage Serenity release will begin with ‘stage 0’, according to Buterin.
Four Serenity releases:
Initial version: with a series of proof-of-stake lights
The simple version of Serenity: with limited features (no smart contract or transfer money from one shard to another shard)
The amplified version of Serenity: with cross-shard communication where users can send money and messages on a different shard
Final version: with many tweaks and optimization features
The technology conference ended with a call for developers to build a new ecosystem of blockchain:
‘Casper is coming, Serenity and new ways will rule.’
Well… Vitalik looks pretty confident and totally trust this. Then Twogap can be quite successful and confident in the way Twogap put it because Twogap is also based on a part of the idea of ETH.
I think Twogap’s playground is quite powerful and full of belief for bitcoin players, and even ICOs and investors to invest in this Twogap project.
Because Twogap also has a project and the path is very similar to Vitalik. Then what will be its success when the similarity of Vitalik is about to succeed, let alone what Twogap?
