Bill Gates on Cryptocurrencies
I thought that Bill Gates was a visionary and a smart person, with a good understanding of technology. But I was surprised to read today his view on cryptocurancies:
The main feature of crypto currencies is their anonymity. I don’t think this is a good thing. The Governments ability to find money laundering and tax evasion and terrorist funding is a good thing. Right now crypto currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs so it is a rare technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way. I think the speculative wave around ICOs and crypto currencies is super risky for those who go long.
Damn! ...how wrong he is! And by the way, I'm pretty sure that in the '90s, some money of the drugs cartels were invested in Microsoft share...

Exactly my point! Still people continue to link cryptocurrencies exclusivity with illegal activities...
He built an empire by copying ideas of others from the very beginning. (Checkout the 'window' concept lawsuit with apple).
The only thing he was good at, is getting government contracts all over the world, since his software was closed, allowing tons of monitoring measures. If you run a simple tcp dump on any windows version, without any additional software installed, you'll actually find tons of hosts with encrypted communication, your systems talks 'who knows what'.
That's the reason of Stagnation. If we observe Google projects such as TensorFlow (among many), what exactly MS ever contributed to technology? Office? :)
He is everything but visionary. How many people are using Windows now in 2018. I not sure if I know a single person. So much of his visions, and a lawsuits following up on each update.
If he is anything, it would be a good NSA friend, allowed US Agencies to exploit the rest of the world
regular users computer systems due to cash-back agreements between M$ and corrupted governments all around the world. Don't forget MS executives called Linux a cancer of technology in it's early days, then added linux emulation to windows 10. No problem of adding 'cancer' as long as it brings money.

I was thinking about the creation of Visual Basic, Visual C, C#, some cloud services (Azore), or for their contribution in quantum computing and philanthropic projects in Africa ... I'm not a fan of today's Windows or any Microsoft Office product
actually he saw the GUI on a Xerox copier and yes was also intrigued by what he saw at apple with Steve's mental down spiral years during the Apple Lisa years and Bill actually also stole the Dirty Operating System DOS from a fellow college student stealing his work and turning it in as his project. Sorry but my dad went to college with him and I happen to live in Seattle and my dad and Paul Allen were working together along with the 3 attending Lakeside when Bill approached both asking if they wanted to be a part of his idea for Microsoft and yes my dad turned it down , if you want we can take a boat via Lake Washington and access the back yard of his Mercer Island house. Oh yeah also , After Eudora was created Netscape sold it to M$ and they BOUGHT the rights to what they released Internet Explore 1.0 and have built it off that original Netscape code. I have to tend to agree with him. You have to understand that Bill does not have the time to look into Gridcoin let alone Potcoin SexCoin or the 1000s of existing and daily created block-chains and digital currency but obviously is familiar with Bitcoin and The Silk Road. Cash is non anonymous each bill has a serial number and if you posses it than it can be attached to you as possession is 9/10ths of the law. You can track money and ive seen bills since the 80s stamped with tracking where the 80s it was write this address and tell me where this bill is now with people trying see where the bills in their pocket end up threw their journey before being put in a shredder when retired from the ever so wonderful federal reserve. Also yes IS/ISIS/ISIL and the Senoao Cartel and plethora of Mexican cartels are converting USD in BTC and then it doesn't have to be packed in gas tanks and compartments in cars let alone traveling overseas via the inter-webs and then re-exchanged for paper moneys so they don't have the massive $150-500k USD ceased at the boarders. Hell ISIS was/is using the Play Station Network vs cell phones for voice communication. I very much see and agree with Bill and there are facts the back him up its not just his opinion. I know when you really support something opinions can be biased and a little closed minded. I personally had 2 friends overdose from silk road purchased heroin that was cut with fentanyl and it only takes a pindrop of that to smoke and get high so imagine a larger raw dose ( it comes in a dermal patch ) and cutting heroin with it not only gives the high a boost but adds weight thus expanding the normal profit made. Humans are greedy and we love drugs , we don't want to feel and BTC and the Silk Road made it so easy for people to get numb and its still going on today where people use crypto currency to purchase drugs. So you have to look at it this way , bill don't give a shit about steemit and cryptocoin talk reading the flame wars of reddit etc and maybe if you think he is uneducated feel free to learn him some digital currency... Also do remember the man said 640k would be more than enough ram for any computer use or need ever , Oh how I miss my IBM-PC JR...
