In post [0206], I did a 'first impressions review' of #BitScreener. A crypto-portfolio tracker that pulls data from 120+ exchanges.

Yes. 120 exchanges!

That's *a massive amount of data. Which basically means you get a more accurate price per coin. And is exactly what you want if you are serious about trading crypto.

It must be pointed out to noobs that very few coin exchanges offer insight into price action on other exchanges as it is not in their best interest to point out the existence of other places you can trade. So you have to resort to a 3rd party like BitScreener for that.

( *If you want to read about the platform and their ICO, check out the last post as the top selling points are all in there. https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@skyflowers/0206-bitscreener-a-contender-for-best-crypto-tracker-for-2018 )

Right now I want to take a quick look at the iOS version of BitScreener. Not the Android one. Here's the download link if you want to check it out yourself. https://bitscreener.app.link/nbhtdBYr6N

Firstly before I begin, I take my hat off to the BitScreener team for having an actual product on the market and not just 'a promise in a whitepaper'. This is a big 'tick' in my mind. The fact that there is a working product on the market before their ICO speaks volumes about what the team is focused on.

I.e. Focused on designing a good product Vs focused on a ca$h grab during the crypto gold boom.

As mentioned earlier, the main selling point of the crypto tracker is the data pull from 120 exchanges. Which is something to pause on and digest properly as it has massive implications. It also shows me how blind and incorrect I have been in the past when trading coins using limited data!

What I find ironic is that there are so many crypto trackers on the market that fail to the job of reporting lots of coins from lots of exchanges. Effectively, not doing their job.

Let's just say that comparing the data from #BitScreener is different to the charts I have been looking at. Leaving me to wonder just how wrong I have been with past trades. Live and learn.

Thankfully, I have come across a crypto tracker that does actually do it's job. And believe me, finding a good one with a comprehensive API list like BitScreener is next to near impossible. So I will be glad if BitScreener indeed does indeed replace the 5 or so websites I have been using. Each with slightly different prices...

Aside from the usual features of crypto trackers like watchlists and portfolios, the iOS app has some nifty extra features that make use of the data from all of those exchanges.

For example, you can build your own data filters or 'screeners'. Which is essentially what this app is all about. This effectively allows you to build your own custom charts and measure anything from market cap >$50M... To 24 hour gainers... To custom charts that measure social media pulse. Which is handy when assessing the life of a project before you invest.

The power of BitScreener comes from it's ability to tap into such a massive data set ( i.e. 120 exchanges ) and then refine that data by way of multiple filters. That are then saved as a custom chart.

Currently, there are 17 different filters which are interchangeable and you can mix and match to refine the outputs. And I am guessing more will be added over time.

The ability to create your own toolset and adjust the platform to your own logic and investment style is a big plus for BitScreener. Often you are stuck in someone elses logic when using apps and I always find myself fighting aginats the design of many of the apps I use.

Add the custom charting to the massive data pull and BitScreener out performs most other crypto trackers on those two features alone. Let alone any others they come up with over time.

It must be said that the service is freemium and you can pay to get rid of ( infrequent ) ads and unlock more features. But you actually have access to every coin listed and the paywall doesn't cut vital features. So the free version is usable, as is. For the big spenders, the asking price for a subscription is dirt cheap for a tool that may just help you manage a million dollar portfolio.

Aside from the 120 exchanges and the custom charts, another feature that is handy is the custom alerts feature. Normally coin alerts offer just the bare bones and don't really get much thought or attention in most crypto trackers. The charts they do but the alerts they don't.

The iOS version offers so great alerts but are a lot better when pushed to the desktop version. They are handy as you can get notifications right there in your browser.

Having said all of this, the iOS app is clearly a work in progress. Which is not a negative comment. I say this because I get the distinct impression that the team will add a lot more features in future. You can tell that BitScreener, as it is now, is just the beginning.

It is an impressive platform. Given the app pulls from 120 exchanges, which is the key thing to remember regardless of new features. With that amount of data at the heart of the platform, BitScreener could easily become a top player in the crypto tracking space.

The iOS app is handy, albeit with a few minor UX changes to be made. Which is to be said about most apps.

As an aside, it is interesting to note that the ICO for BitScreener is still 6 days away but is already 90% sold out. Translated, this means that investors with a lot of money see value in BitScreener despite it being in a market that is flooded with crypto trackers. Most of which are mediocre products and not robust enough for real investing. So people with big money also see the potential here.

In summary, no app is perfect. But with 120 exchanges as a database, BitScreener is on the right track to creating 'crypto app of the year for 2018'.
