THE BIG DISADVANTAGE OF A CENTRALIZED EXCHANGE
Hello everybody i now that a lot of time passed still i have post something.
But i think, that i have now a good text for you all.
I will show you why a decentralized exchange is so much better and have a higher security than a centralized one.
Below you will see some examples of the largest bitcoin hacks.
1. Mt. Gox
- The wallet was compromised and it was also an inside job
- 2014
- 850,000 BTC were stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 5.950.000.000 USD
2. Bitfinex
- User wallets were hacked
- 2016
- 119,756 BTC were stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 838.292.000 USD
3. Linode
- The wallet was compromised and it was also an inside job
- 2012
- 46,703 BTC were stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 326.921.000 USD
4. Poloniex
- the hackers were able to exploit a faulty withdrawal code of the exchange
- 2014
- 12,3 of all BTC's were stolen
5. Bitstamp
- The wallet was compromised
- 2015
- 19,000 BTC were stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 133.000.000 USD

6. Bitstamp
- The wallet was compromised
- 2016
- 18,866 were BTC stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 132.062.000 USD
7. Bter
- The wallet was compromised
- 2015
- 7,000 BTC stolen
With the price of today (7000 USD) it have an value of 49.000.000 USD
Why am i showing you this??
I want that you all think a while about this.
Read the full article and you will see, that it was the most of the time an inside job.
That is a big disadvantage from centralized exchange to a decentralized exchange, like BITSHARES !!!
there are a lots of other disadvantages, like higher fees, controlled wallets, servers that gets down and and and...
But i dont want to talk about this.
Just think acout the security.
An centralized exchange will never have an higher security like an DEX exchange.
Bitshares is one of the oldest exchanges and it have never been hacked !!!!
We all must support this genuis exchange, not just for us, but also for all the cryptocurrencies.
A lots of people are afraid to start with crypto.
Everyone says that you can be hacked so they are afraid to do the first step in the crypto world.
We must support Bitshares to counteract this kind of thinking !!!

Bitshares is one of the easiest DEX to use, follow and with the recent upgrades very simple to use. In addition to that, they have a chat room on Discord as well as the chat box. Yes there are fees, they are reasonable they are expanding to more and more assets available. If you have not given them a look-see, I'd suggest getting a free account with them and look around (hint use a number or - in your username when you sign up)
No, I will not put a personal link since I am just replying to a post but I have no doubt that my assets are secure in Bitshares and that when I make a trade, send BTC in, or send to another user, I can watch as the blocks are verified.
Do you think coinbase is good and safe? I am kind of worried :)
Coinbase is not bad.
But its centralized.
It will never be as safe as DEX.
You can buy all the coins (which you can buy in coinbase) and more in bitshares.
Why do you want to buy and hold it on coinbase?
Bitshares have also lower fees.
