If you have asked me few days ago, what is Litecoin, I would say you this:
- great cryptocurrency due to enlargement between the public and the merchants, it´s one of most used cryptocurrencies for paying in the stores
- clone of BTC and testnet, do you remember on SEGWIT?
- faster blocks than BTC (good for merchants)...
But now there can be one big difference between BTC and LTC
Mimblewimble
The Litecoin Foundation has announced that it has asked Beam for cooperation to implement Mimblewimble via Extension Blocks on Litecoin.
What is MimbleWimble?
- MimbleWimble is a blockchain-based privacy protocol with a focus on scalability
- The big benefit of this protocol is, that it doesn´t relay any traceable infromation within a transaction when simultaneously verifying the sende and receiver´s private keys
- the protocol is used by two groups: Grincoin - comunity project and Beam - business project.
The Litecoin Foundation claims that working with Beam will allow regular LTC conversion into MimbleWimble LTC variant and back. After such conversion, Mimblewimble LTC will be traded anonymously.
Now the LTC can transform from a copy into a very well-spreaded and accepted cryptocurrency with elements of confidentiality. Oh and halving is in this year too... Time to invest?
