Trader Bets Bitcoin Will Exceed Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Price
An anonymous Australian Bitcoin trader placed a pretty hefty bet that the price of one Bitcoin would be worth more than 1 share of Warren Buffet's stock, Berkshire Hathaway by December 31st, 2023. The price of the bet was for $6.3 million USD or $8.5 million AUD. Berkshire Hathaway Class A shares currently trade for more than $280,000 USD per share. If this Australian better wins the bet, he will receive $1.2 billion AUD. This would net him approximately $884 million USD.
At the time of this post, Berkshire Hathaway is trading for $289,344.37--up $1,344.47 from the previous day's trading session--an increase of 0.47%. The price of Bitcoin is $6,228.75. Looks like Bitcoin has a long way to go in the next 5 plus years if it wants to catch up to Berkshire Hathaway. It is a pretty aggressive bet, but it has a huge payout. What do you guys think? 300.000 maybe seems unreachable atm, but if ETFs come (and I don't mean only one) then big sums of money will pump up bitcoin over years. When lightning network makes further steps and we get more beginner friendly wallets the effects will multiply for sure :)
You make some great points there. ETFs is a game changer if they ever get approved...it would mean more regulation though, which gives the power back to the regulators and big government. Lightning network should be coming soon for more coins and that will greatly help with microtransactions and sending costs. Wallets need to be more user friendly, but that will come with time. Looks like Ethos is working on a universal wallet. If all those things come to fruition, then there is a good chance BTC could go parabolic...
Now this is gonna be a interesting story hahah :D
