Which altcoin is best to invest now
Dear Steemians,
I am planning to Invest around $100 in any of the altcoins with a long term view (more than 1 year). Hope this is the best time is to enter as it looks the market is almost bottom.
I don't have much idea about cryptocurrencies, but I have some investment in bitcoin.
I would like to have some good picks within my budget with low price and have potential to give atleast 10x returns in the next 12-15 months.
Your valuable advice would be highly appreciated.
I'd take every advice with a pinch of salt, because in the end none of us can be sure.
First and foremost, even if I’m investing $100, I diversify. Putting all eggs in one basket is always problematic.
Second, I’d always be sure that I won’t mind if I lose that $100. Crypto-currencies are incredibly risky, you might see them all at the value of $20 before you know it.
Now in terms of the coins, for a part of my portfolio, I am also looking for some gains in the long term. In this long term portfolio, I’m going for the coins that have utility value. Coins like, SiaCoin, OmiseGo, TenX, Basic Attention Token, Steem, Golem, Patientory… are the ones I invested in.
Now I’m hoping that these coins will return me around 4-5x in the next 12-15 months. But expecting 10x would be a little greedy. You can probably do so if you do a lot of research and discover some amazing altcoins that no-one is aware right now, but it would be a gamble.

Thank you very much @algons for your very valuable advice. I also was planning to go with either SiaCoin or OmisGo. it is true, the expectation is 10x return is too high, but in cryptocurrency market I think it is possible.

i'm investing in steem(steemit), great platform where you get payed for what you do, not like Facebook etc.

I am not a financial advisor, but based upon jsnip4 and Bix Weir on YouTube, both Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are supposed to be "safe but going higher" short-term and long-term speculations. You will need some ETH because so many Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) use the ERC-20 smart contracts, so if you want to invest in any new altcoins, you will have to buy them with ETH.
If you already own some Bitcoin, then investing in Litecoin (LTC) is not a great leap of faith. There is a lot of expectations over OmiseGo (OMG) competing with Ethereum (ETH). Do your own due diligence over these altcoins.
Sir, thank you very much for your valuable advice. But for the ETH who is the competitor, EOS or OMG? The reports say that EOS is the ETH killer. What I thought is the prices of ETH and LTC is already moved up a lot and my budget is too low. I also think ETH and LTC will be safe bet than new unknown coins.
LTC is definitely the "safe" buy. ETH/EOS/OMG are riskier - but I cannot deny that all of the ICOs have I have invested in came from ETH, not any other altcoin. So until several other ICOs want some other altcoin than ETH, ETH will stay prominent in the altcoin list. Perhaps even #3 behind BTC and LTC.
