Blockchain Bonnet Now in Style

What is in style now will not likely be completely in style later. Then after a few months, or even decades, it may come back again and appear to be "new," awesome, and dazzling. That is a basic principle of how we were made; there is really nothing new under the sun. For example, I have been wearing my socks pulled all the way up because that was the style back in the 1970s. Yet at some point (that I failed to notice), such a practice went out of style. Yet I never stopped pulling up my socks. To this day I still wear my socks pulled up all the way. And recently I have observed that pulled up socks are slowly coming back in style.

How does that relate to cryptocurrency and its blockchain technology? My point is that even as cool as cryptocurrency is, it too will go in and out of "style." The ebbs and flows of public opinion, technology advances and failures, surprise moves by powerful multinational entities, and even acts of God will move people to varying degrees of crypto-adoption.

Don't get me wrong; I truly like cryptocurrency and the markets that are opening up because of it on sites like Steemit, ONO, and all the rare digital art platforms. That's great. Yet for those who are students of the history of money and economics, you can actually find all sorts of world-changing (and even shocking) financial shifts that resulted in "new" ways to exchange value, thus redistributing the wealth to different entities. The big deal about the current developments in cryptocurrency is not that they are so "new," since cryptography is not new, and neither is virtual money or even decentralization.

Rather the thing that excites people about cryptocurrency is its remarkable potential to disruptive so many of our current systems. Yet that's not new either. There is an age-old word for that phenomenon: revolution. And history is full of revolution. In fact, it's much of what makes history so compelling.
