Not necessarily. Cryptonote is a completely different system than all the Bitcoin imitators, and they are designed to function differently. And since they are designed for a different audience, they will likely not get as much hype as bitcoin, and remain less-utilized, ensuring a less-cluttered network.
I don't believe in any cryptocurrency that can't be scaled to serve the whole world.
I don't believe there needs to be a single cryptocurrency to serve the whole world in the first place.
