I think its because that they have Sophia the robot,which they recently gave citizenship for. I also read elsewhere they already had her hooked up to online so she can work for them. Since a computer can do various calculations far faster then any human being,its only logical their first robotic citizen can some mining for them in SA isn't it hmm?
