As time continues to move forward as it always does, the “voice” of Satoshi seems to be fading.

Yes, lots of people like to speak on his behalf and claim that they are continuing his legacy, whether they are or not, I feel we’re at a point now where the people who are getting into Bitcoin, whether it’s through investment or writing click-bait articles for mainstream media outlets, a majority of them aren’t even familiar with Satoshi’s perspective.

If you want to get a good foundation for understanding Bitcoin and this whole world of cryptocurrencies that it has inspired, I think these quotes are a good place to start.

If you’re new to this channel you will soon learn that I’m a fan of reminding my viewers of the philosophy behind the creation of Bitcoin.

It’s something that I think gets lost among the hype and obsession of price and attaining governmental regulations. I’ve already made a video that explains who the cypherpunks are and also have made quite a few videos that spotlight other influential people during the early days of bitcoin. Today’s video is the first of many in this new weekly series that’s going to cover different posts from Satoshi Nakamoto... because who better to reference than the person who started it all, right?

A lot of the correspondences Satoshi had occurred on anonymous mailing lists like: metzdowd, which you can still subscribe to by the way if you’re interested in reading up on what’s currently being discussed by other anonymous users. Fun fact that you may not know is that Satoshi also is the one who created the BitcoinTalk forum. You can find a link to the very first post, which was written by Satoshi down below, along with other posts on BitcoinTalk, like the one that resulted in everyone’s favorite term HODL.

This “Words from Satoshi” series is pretty self-explanatory, I want to pick a quote from Satoshi and display them for you all. If nothing else, I just want to simply introduce more people to his perspective and motivations for creating a peer-to-peer electronic cash system that doesn’t rely on a trusted third party.

Without further adieu, this week’s Words from Satoshi:

“A lot of people automatically dismiss e-currency as a lost cause because of all the companies that failed since the 1990’s. I hope it’s obvious it was only the centrally controlled nature of those systems that doomed them. I think this is the first time we’re trying a decentralized, non-trust-based system.”

I chose this one because it’s pretty obvious the sentiment of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has been on a downtrend much like the price, as is what usually happens.

I want to give a friendly reminder that regardless of the price, you should count yourself privileged to be witnessing this time of innovation and independence.

Satoshi created a tool that either itself or its successor can and will liberate millions of people one day, are you one of them?

If you like this quote, or if you know of one that you’d like to share, feel free to leave it as a comment down below.

“ Crypto is almost a spiritual experience...” @melip 😊

I agree that regardless the price, it the fundamentals that are important. If those are respected, the price will take care of itself. I started as a greedy trader, but now money is only a bonus. My treasures in the block chain ecosystem are the friends ive made, privacy and witnessing the birth of new technology. What an exciting time we are in !! 😊🤗

That's a fun evolution to experience :)

Yes. Oh it didnt take me long to evolve believe me. Freedom is what we all want more than anything in the world and if we can escape from the scorn we recieve just for CARING..I will take that too 🤗😊

Waiting next Episode

Shhh Heidi, we're not supposed to quote this one anymore. Allegedly, we are "past" them. ;)

Because nobody who understands crypto would ever say 0-conf is good for most transactions and SPV users don't trust nodes... wink wink

Thanks for creating this video series.

I think it is important to remind us from time to time that cryptos are not about making a quick buck. The banksters themselves showed us that people and societies need good money, not fiat.

Did satoshi start "Bitcointalk"? I doubt it, couldnt see the link for this or proof?...

Sure Satoshi Nakamoto is the father of crypto currencies and we will probably never know who he is. He might be dead? The original first bitcoin wallets with a lot of bitcoin in them, has last time I checked not been moved ever!

Other then that, who to know in crypto?? Everybody... and mostly me LOL... no seriously it change so fast that the person usually is not relevant anymore, the information and the new developments happens so fast that we need new ways of thinking, acting and dealing with each other, I believe.

I try to always give the best information to other people online or offline.. as my philosophy of good karma in the long run.

Here's proof of Satoshi beginning BitcoinTalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5.msg28#msg28

on wikipedia it says that Satoshi Nakamoto created bitcoin the 9th of Januar 2009, of course it could be him that then in november 2009 created BitcoinTalk, but still is there a proof of that in that post you linked to ?? I mean there should be a proof with the first bitcoin wallet pgp encryption or something like that... all information on a internet forum like BitcoinTalk is stored in a old fashion database and can be manipulated.. so that post you linked to is not really proof, unless it is somewhere down in the thread?

I don't know, maybe it is just me.

There is no actual encryption based proof, but it has been confirmed by others that Satoshi set up the Bitcoin.org website, the initial forum and that he started the BitcoinTalk forum as well. Theymos (also anonymous and by many considered at least as controversial a figure) helped moderate the latter and would be left in charge of Bitcoin.org as well, while Gavin Andresen was left in charge of the reference client development.

Ok, thanks for the info. I don't know how to validate these data, I guess one needs to be a cyber historian expert to do so.

Pretty much. Either you were there or you weren't, for the most part. The different websites were not part of the implemented Bitcoin design and there were no really good ways of eliminating trust in the maintenance of these, so whoever was involved simply wanted as little direct evidence leading back to them as possible.

Sure and Heidi was not there, since I understand that she learned about Bitcoin with Steem or about at that time, am I correct?? I was at Bitcointalk from april 2013 (I can 'semi proof' that by showing you my account there, but again it would not be definite proof like on Steem), just never trusted anything on a forum like that. Still there are no proof of Heidi's claim that Satoshi started BitcoinTalk.

Sure. You'd have to ask someone who had direct contact with Satoshi and even then, most of those that did remain anonymous and don't have proof of what happened back then. It really isn't that important for the bigger picture, although it can be a fun occupation to dig around.

(I think I was in the community since about the time Satoshi left or was about to leave in 2010, but also have no proof of this and never posted on BitcoinTalk or at least don't remember a pseudonym that I used at the time)
