I believe the old owners and devs of Steemit during its first meteoric rise held 80% of the supply, so the top 1% held 80% where as now the top 1% only hold 30% of the overall supply since then.

That is a classic cup and handle. You are correct, that handle breaks up and it should be extremely powerful.
Right now the handle turned into a channel...it might reside here for a spell while the bulls and bears fight it out.
Either way, a huge breakout to the upside is most likely..it is only a matter of when.
