Bitcoin on Gumtree?
Hello Steemians,
Last evening, I posted an advert on Gumtree, selling my MAGIC: The Gathering card collection. My post was titled "Bitcoin for 30,000 mtg card collection". Some time later, I received an email, saying that my advert had been removed, because it was incorrectly listed. I had placed it in the 'Hobbies, Interests and Collectibles' section, where there were already five of the same ads. I changed the section and re-listed it.
This morning I awoke to a message, saying that my ad had been removed, because, "We believe that this ad is offering something that we do not accept on Gumtree".
Anyhow, I decided to enquire, opened the live chat and was greeted by a very helpful Claire. Here is the following chat, which I believe is okay, legally, to share here:
( 4m 6s ) Claire: Hello my name is Claire, I'm reviewing your message now, please allow me a few minutes
( 5m 51s ) Ravenstone: okay
( 6m 36s ) Claire: Hi Iami, sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
( 7m 5s ) Claire: I'm sorry the item you are trying to sell is not allowed on the Gumtree site
( 7m 52s ) Ravenstone: magic cards? But you have five of them listed
( 8m 52s ) Ravenstone: I have bought mtg cards from this site before on more than one occasion.
( 10m 14s ) Ravenstone: Hello??
( 11m 49s ) Claire: I'm sorry, my mistake your ad can go live I will do this for you m
( 12m 11s ) Ravenstone: Ahh, thank you. Was it something else, Claire?
( 12m 31s ) Ravenstone: As in because I have asked for cash or bitcoin?
( 13m 41s ) Claire: Yes, it was the Bitcoins as they are not allowed
( 14m 57s ) Ravenstone: So is it okay? I have asked for cash, but if they pay me bitcoin, can they do it offsite? Why is Bitcoin a problem? Sorry for all the questions.
( 15m 44s ) Claire: Yes, it was the system that got caught up by the word Bitcoin, but it's fine to have them as payment
( 16m 14s ) Ravenstone: :) Thank you, Claire.
( 17m 22s ) Claire: Your welcome
( 17m 40s ) Ravenstone: Do I have to reload the ad, or did you say that you could do it for me?
( 18m 46s ) Ravenstone: I'm a Steemit user, which is what the Bitcoins are for. It's a really good community site. Sorry for the plug, but you might like it :).
( 19m 49s ) Claire: I have put the ad live for you now
( 20m 9s ) Claire: Haha, the plug is fine.
( 22m 15s ) Ravenstone: Okay, thank you and I will let you get on with more important issues. If you do go on to have a look, I am gwb235. Thank you, very much, Claire and if you like to blog or create, get on Steemit :). If you have vid on youtube or some to share, gotoo DTube. You get paid for content and have steem to pay others. Sorry to go on, but I'm a ranter. All the best and thank you for the help.
( 22m 34s ) Claire: No problem : )
( 22m 41s ) Claire: There will be a short survey at the end of this chat, it would be great if you could fill this out for me :)
( 23m 4s ) Ravenstone: I will do, yes, of course.
( 25m 26s ) Ravenstone: Oh, I have to eit chat. Ha, ha, that old hanging up thing ha, ha, ha, no, you first. Sorry, I'm also a professional idiot. Thanks again Claire and good luck with all that you do :). Apologies for the spelling errors.
( 25m 40s ) Claire: Your welcome : )
Hope I helped you?
Claire.
As I said, Claire was very helpful and it seems that Gumtree are fine with Bitcoin being used to trade items on their site. I am not sure if I'm being a giant holy nobhead and everyone knows this, but I thought it was funky and so am sharing. Besides, if this is not so common, maybe companies will let transactions happen that they need not get integrally involved in, as long as they are paid in Fiat Unos.
I apologise for not having a picture of Claire, but here are a couple of toothbrushii:

Thank you for reading, sorry it was short, just thought it may be of interest to some.
All the best,
Gaz.

omg! I used to LOVE that game. I still have two decks :). Green was always my fave. Sometimes I would splash a little white or red in too... but life is too busy for that now.
It's one of those games that comes around now and again and you regret getting rid of your cards for a while. It's weird that I have had the greens out, next to the fire, for a while, as I was going to divide them, but you start reading them and before you know it, you're constructing a deck.
I have a very decent Goblin army and an unbeatable Sliver army, but as you said, life is too busy for that now, and besides, not easy at all to get a private game going in the U.K.
It is such a good game, though.
Thanks for the upvote, much appreciated :).
