Are you saying you think it most likely that the BIP148 "thing" "path" is going to be "what happens"?
Before a hard fork. Yes I believe this is what will happen.
Do you think the BIP148 movement will need many of the large businesses (like Coinbase.com, Bitfinex, Bitpay, and the like) on board in order to bring the miners along? Do you think some/many/most of the miners will come along without almost all the nodes and many/most of the "big businesses"?
I haven't heard enough yet to answer that one. Anything I do hear I will be writing about in the future. There should be much upcoming news related to the issue!
