Starbucks going to accept a cryptocurrency or two —- but not Bitcoin — so who does this leave?

Let’s be clear, nobody know which crypto(s) Starbucks will accept. The Startbucks CEO acknowledges that this is an important payment method they they need to incorporate — but besides that —- we are guessing.
What DO we know?
It will NOT be Bitcoin (that was stated — high fees and speed for now)
It wil NOT be a Starbucks crypto coin
To me, this leaves : Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash ...don’t get mad at me but maybe Ripple?
I have a sense it might be a product that takes advantage of the Lightning Network for super low fees...maybe pennies...and it has to be ULTRA FAST. AND....a Lightning Network Node “pays” the retailer — unlike credit cards charging the retailer 2-4%.
So ...we will see. Either way it’s awesome for awareness, adoption and let’s face it....Starbucks is a huge name that would create quite a storm.
Any coin they accept is good for a start, and then the other coins can be added later on. Hopefully steem dollars. And bitcoin would be after lightning network i think
I think all of what you said is certainly possible. I think there are going to be some “key names” announcing this quarter (Starbucks, Amazon etc...) ...we will see.

I'm sure the people who were up in arms about Starbucks ditching the Christmas cups for holiday cups will be thrilled about people using their crypto gains to buy mochas

Why shouldn't Starbucks release "Star Bucks" coin ?
They certainly could, but the CEO has come out and said they wish not not at this time.
Does anyone know of a consumer brand that's considering using Steem dollars to incent customers to share content and experiences on Steemit? It seems this would be such a good marketing and consumer engagement method.
