Challenge To Steemians: "The Downside of Bitcoin" Is ... ?

in #bitcoin8 years ago (edited)

... for the elites, at least according to a certain media outlet. I have to credit this thread on Reddit for a hilarious idea. As we've made it clear on FinTekNeeks, we don't read the mainstream news because it's a waste of time. However, if you want a laugh or you want to mock something, mainstream news offers the perfect opportunity.

Challenge

All right, we're going to have to do a list because some haven't followed the rules. You must follow the rules to qualify:

  • In the comments, take the first part of the media article The Downside of Bitcoin: and then fill in the rest, but make sure it's funny as Hell.
  • Each commenter only gets one attempt to be fair to other commenters. Don't post multiple ones as that takes from others.
  • The person with the funniest title wins; if two are equally funny, then we'll look at other factors like the most upvotes in the comments, who participated the most, the most shares, etc.
  • The winner gets the current pot (see below this).
  • Because we value our followers, you have to be a follower to qualify.
  • We may keep this contest going for a while - much, much longer than our 3 day DashAways - relative to how funny/unfunny the ideas are and how many people post ideas or don't post ideas. Due to the initial response, we're looking at a minimum of two months. For the record, no one will win by default, so if there's low participation overall, then no one wins. Translation: participate, vote, share, etc.
  • Avoid using other people's ideas either; the Reddit thread already had some, but those can't be used.
  • Do the dos on this list and don't do the don'ts on this list to qualify.

Think funny. We want to laugh and we want to have fun ridiculing the mainstream media, especially this article which was absolutely retarded (not that we're surprised).

If you're not a funny person, then make sure to vote for which comment you think is the funniest or has you laughing. There might be a tie, so just in case, we'll use the community's votes. Finally, if you want to join in the pot and reward the person as well, let us know in the comments. Maybe as a community we can come up with a bigger reward, like 0.25 BTC for the winner.

Current Pot At Start: 0.06 BTC

Using Your Title ...

Using your title that you come up with, I will then write a satiric post on FinTekNeeks and credit you with the title. The satiric post will go along with whatever funny title you come up with while mocking the media outlet that came up with such a retarded article.

Example

You can't use this because I came up with it, but this is just an example of a funny title:

The Downside of Bitcoin: Unlike the Dollar, It Can't Be Used As Toilet Paper

I would then write a post covering:

  • The more Dollars exist, the more valuable they become as toilet paper.
  • Bitcoin is crappy (heh) toilet paper because bitcoin is just backed by intrinsic trust, verified transactions and a system with financial integrity.
  • A currency that can also be used as toilet paper is so much better than a currency that cannot be used as toilet paper.

The idea is that when people Google the media's stupid title, they may run across our site and see the mockery ensue and it's a great way to introduce some people to bitcoin through humor. Look, at this point, we know that no one in the mainstream media is going to defend bitcoin.

Sort:

The Downside of Bitcoin: Unlike the Dollar, It Doesn't Become More and More Like Monopoly Money w/ Each Passing Second

Who doesn't like a good game of Monopoly? Better yet, who doesn't love the illusion of being rich when holding a huge stash of Monopoly bills? Not this guy. So, it's not really money. True, it's really only worth the cheap paper that it's made on, having absolutely nothing of value to back it, so what?

I can buy Boardwalk with enough of it in my possession. Moreover, I can buy a long line of upscale hotels to place alongside its streets, and, eventually, some idiots will come along with their own stash of monopoly money and shovel it over to me for a room! Then they'll feel poor for having let a few of these thin pieces of paper slip from their fingers into my own. What fools! And, yet, how deliciously satisfied my greed becomes as I fan out this stack of paper, wet with the blood, sweat and tears of these lost wanderers.

Poor bastards! Probably going to lose the game. That's life...actually it's Monopoly, but who's keeping track, anyway?

Now, replace every mention of "monopoly money" with "dollars" and you'll find that it all still holds true, only "Boardwalk" becomes "Hollywood". You can't do that with bitcoin can you? Can you?! I didn't think so.

The Downside of Bitcoin: Huh? We can't just print more?
