It's me! I'm a real live person as this here picture proves...or does it?

Let's assume it does for now.

How did I get here? Seems like the right place to start so let's get to it.

When I was a young lad in highschool (10ish years ago) I wrote for the school paper in little ol' Riverview, MI. I was certain that I wanted to to be a sports journalist. I even contacted all of local big wig news papers in Detroit in search of a journalist to job shadow for my senior project and low and behold one of them contacted me back. Mick McCabe was one the top prep sports writer in the state of Michigan and he allowed me to accompany him to a basketball game and observe his process as a writer.

Fast forward ten years (yes there are a few details in between) and I find myself at 29 without a career or even a job. I did go to school, and I did get a degree, but I never started down a typical career path. Don't get me wrong, I've had jobs. For more than a few years I worked at a medical practice my father owned (no he's not a doctor), I spent some time dealing cards in a casino, and I even sold cars for a Toyota dealership!

This is Shiva. She wants a STEEMIT account but she cant type :(
That's ok we're going to bring her along for the ride.

I haven't been very active with social media since I stopped selling cars. In fact my Facebook is deactivated, as well as my Instagram, and I've never had Snapchat or Twitter. BUT I LOVE CRYPTO CURRENCY. I have been trading bitcoin since 2012 before the Mt. Gox crash and I've been trading ethereum since late 2016. I have recently also dabbled in some day trading on Poloniex, and stashed some bitshares.

SOOOOOOOOOO when I came across sTeeMIT I had already seem "steem" listed on www.coincap.io , a site I use to track crypto currency values and market caps. I spent a few hours in bed one night reading the guides and I thought "what a damn good idea." So I opened an account and...let it sit for about three weeks...silly me :)

Yesterday my girlfriend said "you should start a blog." Obviously she knows I don't have a job, and I have ample time even though I am taking care of my father. She had done some research on how one can make some loot from home on Pintrest and found some guides with users explaining that they make "yada-yada" a month (Seinfeld fans) and all you have to do is "yada-yada-yada" and find a company to host your blog.

So I was like "HMMMMMMMM..."

Lightbulb!> I don't have to pay anyone to host my blog, I can STEeeeemMMMIT

woot woot

^This is Andrea by the way (my girlfriend) I call her Dre for short, and yes I do love her very much. However I'm sure she will not love this picture choice, but look how dang cute she is! Sorry bunny!

So at first I was thinking about what can I do to make this really good you know? What can I do to get a following etc etc etc. I was listening to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which I love, and he made a comment about how to get a following on Twitter. The gist is that all you have to do is say something really ridiculous or shocking enough that someone re-tweets and BOOM! there's your following.

IMG_1077.JPG

So I ate my verification page, sue me..

I liked Joe's idea but I thought shucks...everything can't be a stroke of genius. I need stop thinking and start doing. Because what's the worst that can happen? NOTHING! That's the beauty of the whole thing. It makes me think of a shirt that Bitcoin pioneer, Charlie Shrem, is wearing for his Fortune article photo.

(Not sure if I'm allowed to post the picture here)

It reads:

"Reason to use Bitcoin #11

...because if it fails, nothing happens;

If it succeeds, it will change the world"

Yes, it's true, I've never done anything like this. So this is me asking for help...

HELP ME!!!

If you have any advice, tips or guidance you would like to share with me, please don't hesitate. I have a ton of experiences, photos, insight, and stories that I can and will share with you all.

I love the notion that one person or entity has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

So here I am not looking for money or notoriety. I'm simply looking to share my life with all of you. That's what this whole platform is really about right? Sharing. I share with you and you in turn share with me. Or maybe you are just here to watch. In that case I hope that what I share, or what someone shares, is something worth sharing that will change your life in a positive way.

If you can get down with that, you can get down with me.

Bless,

KC

Welcome here @elslobador! I joined last year but I am just now really getting involved and active on here. We had our 4th child which took most my time on top of that I was intimidated by the learning curve of Steemit. I felt it was too much at the time for me to really dig in. But I'm sooo glad that I gave it a second shot. My advice to you from what I am learning is to educate yourself with this platform as much as possible. Learn about the tools and resources that will help you, the shoulds and should not of posting. Join in on some of the contest that other users are devolving, it helps you to get to know more people and helps others learn about your creativeness. While you are trying to create your own content, spend time visiting other's profiles, upvoting the things you like, leaving positive feedback and comments, resteeming great posts. Encouraging someone or just letting them know they are doing a good job goes a long way. Being original as possible is the best way to go. You will find out quickly that people don't like it when you just copy stuff from the web and post it, using it as your own work. Here are a couple of resources that I use. The first link is a resource that will help keep track of your Steem Power (voting power), Steem dollars and your upvotes. The second link is a resource that will show you who is following you and if anyone has unfollowed you. All you do is type in your Steemit username for both. Also you can always use the Search link on here to look up things too. I hope my little two cents helped. I'm still learning a lot myself. Tell Andrea her picture is just fine, she is very pretty :) Kudos to her for encouraging you to blog. I'm following you! I hope you do well here.
