Thank you! It is so hard to listen to all the opinions and try to guess who is right. If Bitcoin is its own currency, why are we tying it to the dollar? Well that may be a stupid question, I have always wondered. Is it to give it something to compare it to?

It is simply because the dollar is still dominant currency in regulation of payments. People are still used to a relations of values through dollar, like they are used to “Leica format” focal lengths in photography, although today we have a myriad of sensor sizes. It will gone as cryptocurrencies take over the bulk of worldwide payments.
