After testing $3000 USD, bitcoin entered a sharp retracement which saw several major bitcoin exchanges experience significant technical difficulties.

The Problems Experienced by Exchanges May Have Contributed to the Intensity of Yesterday’s Crash

All eyes have been on bitcoin in recent days, as btc ramped up to establish new highs and test the key area of $3000. When the area failed to hold prices began to retrace – triggering a crash of up to approx. 20 percent in just a few hours. Kraken, Coinbase, Gdax, and Poloniex were all reported to be experiencing technical difficulties during the crash – leaving many traders unable to manage or exit their positions.

The problem of cryptocurrency exchanges experiencing technical difficulties has been a persistent theme throughout 2017’s dramatic bull trend. Following a 600% rise in trading activity and several ddos attacks, Poloniex has had numerous issues in recent months. Complaints of slow loading speeds and trade executions, drastic slippage, and errors while attempting to log in during critical periods of high volatility have been widespread. Coinbase, Gdax, and Kraken have garnered criticism from traders too, with reports of users struggling to access their accounts during moments of intense volatility during bitcoin’s recent uptrend being widespread.

Imagine when bitcoin is trading at $10,000 usd. Steem On

then there will be some problems! But I don't mind :) not at all

Soon a reality!

Thanks for sahring
My point of view:
Bitcoin resume positive trading , which supports the continuation of the bullish trend , waiting for surpassing 2933.00 level to open the way towards visiting the resistance at 3000.00.

It's truly getting old, especially with the few that love to use the good old "we got hacked trick" and then disappear. This is why I'm ordering a hardware wallet, I want to have full control over my coins and not be dependent on wether or not someone can keep their services running.

Also everyone should check out the minnow support! It's here to help us small guys grow!!

I have voiced my concern many times on various forums about the problems with exchanges. They are so conveniently time to screw everyone that it just screams that it's some sort of collusion scam. Poloniex is the worst when it comes to this. A few weeks back, before they announced problems with limit orders, I used a limit order to sell my burst as it was spiking. Once my order triggered, my coins sold and all my BTC disappeared. I made a support ticket and mods told me it should resolve within 48 hours. Of course, since my limit order triggered and was sold I expected to get my BTC when the issue was resolved. Instead Bologna-ex held the coins for 36 hours, then reissued me burst coins instead of the BTC. And of course burst coins were now 30% lower than they were when I sold mine. That support ticket is still open with no reply for 6+ weeks. They lag with 5k people the same they lag with 62k people now. They claim DDOS every time there is some sort of huge sell off. They colluded with the DAO hackers and made it possible for it to happen. They pumped all the coins that they recently delisted 1 week before they announced the delisting, then dropping them on poor peoples heads.

Yesterday Coinbase goes down while BTC is dropping insanely. Forcing people to eat losses.

I'm sick of this shit, and I have been gaining more and more bitcoin and the more I get the more I worry about what both of these sites hold in the future. Best of luck to everyone.

Gemini Gemini Gemini. Tweet @winklevoss & @tylerwinklevoss for updates on when Gemini might be available in your state (or country)!

This is a normal phenomenon when there are thousands of people trying to access the platform .Remember when Obama care website was live ...it crased due to overlaod. However human nature will lead many people to panic and start screamng scam!!!. Lets chill and diversify wallets plus cryptocurrencies and not lay all our eggs in 1 bascket...Thanks for sharing @craig-grant

This is very bad some Steemians could loose their money which they invested to make profit to buy more Steem, what about Bittrex anyone heard something ?

Thanks for sharing Craig

Looks like a BUY signal to me!
More people trying to buy in, systems can't handle it.
Best time to buy on a dip, you KNOW it's going higher.

Growing pains is a good thing, it will pass. But it means it's growing beyond it's current capacity, which can only be a good thing for the future.
