RE: Debate: Are Governments Against Bitcoin & Blockchain? Or Do they Love it and Want us to Use it?

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Within the higher ranks of governments there's probably a mixed bag of opinions on crypto. You got those who understand and fear it, those who understand and embrace it, and the majority who just cannot comprehend it.

Those who fear it cannot shut it down, just like they cannot shut down BitTorrent, because it's decentralized and outside of any one country's jurisdiction. If a government tries to crack down on the industry or ban crypto entirely, then all the law-abiding crypto startups will move to more blockchain-friendly countries and the government will miss out on potential economic growth and tax dollars.

Then you've got the officials who understand that their unsustainable debt-based economies are on the brink of failure, and have no choice but to embrace the blockchain. However many do not recognize that the blockchain could render their job obsolete. So I think it's best to educate yourself in blockchain and see how you can fit in and provide value in this new burgeoning economy.

Exciting times!

Indeed Exciting times ahead of us, and will have to wait and see what the future hides for us. I also try to educate myself about this technology and the more I read and go deep down the rabbit hole, the more I feel that there still so much to learn and understand about the blockchain and how it will affect our daily lives both in the positive and negative ways.
