Are bitcoin and cryptocurrency gains taxable income?

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Hi all,

I'm a chartered accountant, and partner in an accounting firm involved in the crypto space.

I'm currently working with a lot of clients with not only their taxes, but also how to legally minimize their tax, discussions with bank managers around source of their wealth and funds, and structures moving forward.

I'm also an accountant for a number of crypto type businesses; exchanges, futures trading, index funds, miners etc.

I'm putting together a series of articles over the next few weeks as we approach the end of the tax year about how to best prepare for the end of the financial year. The first is actually around banking regulations . Closer to month end will be a specific 'how to prepare for year end' article.
