Cameron reviews the history in a way that is easily digestible and aimed at people interested in getting into cryptocurrency, blockchain, or bitcoin. Cameron works at a VC firm and has a somewhat unique perspective since investing is his day-to-day activity.
This is a 14 minute read and full of graphics, making it easily understood.

Thanks @ashr I also read through the whole 14 page blog. Based on his assumption that most money is to be made by investing into cryptos which focus on the protocol vs the application side, are most of your investments also on the protocol side? Do you agree with that assessment?
Mine are leaning towards there, I have a bunch of Stratis, district0x, NEO and EOS. Any other favourites of yours?

I think that there is money to be made on both sides but that the protocol side has longevity. Revolutionary tech is protocol based, not app based. For example, electricity could be considered a revolutionary protocol, while an incandescent lightbulb is an app, as is a flourescent lightbulb, a toaster, a refrigerator, etc. Electricity as a protocol is still useful without any of these items individually, while they are worthless without electricity. In the same way, without innovative protocol, apps may solve a problem but aren't truly innovative long term.
