Well, this is worrisome. I'm not sure I get the story of this particular incident. Is this rare or common? I an still on the fence with being here - after tsu - I am not 100% optimistic. I read another post about people down-voting someone and being mean until they left. I feel like this might not be the right place for me even though I feel hopeful about it too.
Think down voting really makes sense as it protects the community are reward pool - I rarely use it but we have a lot spammers here now. First try to tell them what is wrong, if they continue down voting makes sense. That is only one major advantage versus tsu.
Using it to be simply mean is no fair use but no system is perfect as long as humans prepare it and money is involved.
I keep hearing about spam here but I am not seeing at at all - none on my posts. Why don't people just mute? I've muted 5 people and followed about 500 I think.
Is this problem coming out of all the chats I keep getting invited to? I am only here on steemit and that is giving me enough on my plate for sure.
If a spammer earned some Dollar from spammy comments this is stealing from all others, therefore mute could be done but not solves the issue.
That is a good point unless everyone mutes. This is what happened to one of the 5 people I muted. I never had personal dealings with the account, but saw something that made me go look at the feed. The feed showed about 80% stolen content with memes and other garbage.
So I muted but the person was following me. I checked back for a few days and nothing got better - many posts were grayed out and finally the account is gone or inactive because it is no longer following me and I do not remember the name to even check.
But in this situation, you are talking about abusive behavior that was bad enough to make someone quit the platform. This is what is bothering me as I have another incident discussed elsewhere with the same abusive behavior described. I'm not up for controversy now when I am just beginning to get my content out here.
I guess I'm not understanding why people choose to attack. The other person described this as well - speaking of "coordinated attacks on my posts." This makes me feel uncomfortable with trying to build up my presence here and then some "people unknown" come attack it. I want to understand how it happens so:
OR
I'm not even getting into the posts I have seen about people stealing your account or wallet which is certainly another concern.
I have 11M connections on other platforms and want to call out to get them here, but not with this kind of nonsense I cannot understand, a few cents earned here and there ,and my prior example of tsu being a platform that failed.
I'm still trying here but definitely on the fence after 2 weeks. I have not put any of my "real" health and weight loss content here just for this reason. I'm only posting photos to challenges and commenting right now.
I came here for the Alexa ranking to get more audience to my work and for the interaction possibilities. So far, I am still in - but concerned :)
