The wood sandpiper (Tringa glareola)

And I still do not understand why this sandpiper called the "wood".
He does not live in woods, but lives on the shores of lakes, and in swamps. Thanks to his long “stilts”, he examines shallow water for food.
In these photos I captured how he runs away (it's funny). Although he got used to me for a long time that I was on this lake, but he was still afraid of me.
