Florida Wild Turkey
Yesterday I made an amazing sighting of two Florida Wild Turkeys!
They are also known as Osceola Turkeys.
I live just on the Northeastern tip of their distribution and have never seen them before.
There is a Turkey season where they are hunted, so they were rightfully a bit nervous to see me.
I was surprised at how large and beautiful they are. You can tell they are very fast as well.
They were on the move and I respectfully followed them for about 15 minutes.
Those thick, bold feathers are breathtaking.
I hope they have lots of babies so I can witness them more often.

I saw one last week. Just look at the spurs on those feet and stay well back. There was a mob of wild turkeys harassing real estate agents in our cottage area here. lol
The idea of Real Estate Agents being harassed instead of harassing is amusing. Good point on the spurs, yikes!
We were looking up the collective nouns for turkeys and there were a bunch: rafter, gobble, gang, posse, mob. By the sound of it, those turkeys were probably wearing brass knuckles and carrying knives!
Those collective nouns are wonderful. I think Wild Turkey Posse would be a great name for a biker gang... or a rogue group of real estate agents...
It sounds like a good band name. The real estate agent story was funny because there were about a dozen birds in the mob! It probably wasn't very funny at the time.
