What a smart pigeon!

I just want to show you a picture of a pigeon I took today. So, you can see the pigeon in the yellow circle:

I took the picture in the entrance of one of the metro station in Moscow. So, actually this is a metro station close to the place I work at. The metro station is quite old and has been under construction for the last 2-3 months.
In the picture you can see the top (the cover) of the entrance to the metro station. There is a heating system (heaters) on the top. You can see it. It is a very old one.

So, now let me tell you about the pigeon. This dude found a whole in the metro station entrance, probably in the middle of November. It was when the temperatures dropped below 0 degrees Celsius. He started to overnight in the entrance of the metro station. Because outside is really very cold during the winter and the birds are struggling to survive. So, during the day he fly away ... Probably, he knows where to go to get food, but in the evening he comes back to the metro station and spends the night in the entrance. Since the beginning of December he has started to spend the night (to sleep) on the top of the heaters (heating system). Just to let you know in December we had some days when the temperatures dropped to -18 degrees Celsius. In January and in February, probably, sometimes the temperatures will drop to -30 degrees Celsius.

So, this dude has been until now a lucky one, because he has found a place where to hide during the night from the harsh winter.

I cross my fingers for him. And, I wish that the construction workers will not start to rebuild this part of the metro station at least until the end of March. In April the weather will be much better. Usually in the second half of April the temperatures are above 0 degrees Celsius. So, this pigeon needs to stay (overnight) 3 more months in the metro station entrance in order to survive.

But what I want to say, writing all this ...is that this example shows how each and every creature struggles to survive ... How important the life is. How each and every creature tries to find his optimal way to protect and enjoy his life.
