Bill Gates talking about the demand for the internet in 1994, reminded me a lot about blockchain
Hey everyone! I stumbled upon this video and re-uploaded it to a youtube channel of mine since we can't share videos here starting at a certain time, yet. If you want to watch the full video from the original uploader click this link.
I love how he predicted watching movies, sports, music and games on the internet. Even multiplayer games and people streaming them. Talks about how easy it will be to get more information about anything, guess he is the richest man in the world for a reason.
A lot of the speech reminded me of Net Neutrality, censorship, the attention economy and how there is a huge demand for it in this day and age just like there was demand for the internet back then.
This David Bowie interview from 1999 feels so much more profound to me, though a few years later. He wasn't even computer savvy, he just saw creative potential
This is brilliant as well!
Great video, thanks for sharing. A true visionary. Maybe someday we'll watch videos like this about Mr Satoshi :D
Yeah except that he will remain hidden/dead. :p
Maybe in 2040 we can watch interviews of @ned and be all like, zomg!! He knew!!
well he will be remembered a hero non the less. Of that I am sure.
I'm Mr Satoshi.
I knew it!
I'm sorry for my disappearance, I downloaded myself onto the btc block chain. There is much more going on than meets the eye. We need you @acidyo to fight the blockicons on the grand-chain arena. Will you answer the call?
yes
Please roll a d20...
It's strange. It shows how far we have come with the internet. We've almost gone too far with the huge middlemen involved and now blockchain is restoring the internet back to the true image it was set out to be at the start. Interesting times.
wow, very well said. middle-men will soon be eliminated just like manual labor will be taken over by bots. :)
:) and the only wealth left will be people holding crypto haha
Haha, thankfully Steem has a good distribution method compared to other ones. :D
It may not be as big as the internet but I can think of great use cases for blockchain. It has a long way to go, but that is the good news because you can still "get in early" in my opinion. Bill Gates was some damn young in that vid lol
I think its going to be bigger. :)
Actually he was 39 there, but agree looks like in his 20s, haha!
A Genius !!!
LOL nice meme, hadn't seen that one before!
hahaha
@acidyo, thanks for this. I have no fears with the Blockchain except with the so many scams associated with it.
Yeah - unfortunately those are the times we live in right now. 90% of the internet is filled with them it feels like...
Isn't there anything that could be done to stop the scammers?
Within blockchain? Hmm, its all so new and experimental, hope they start with the scammers at least... all you can do for now is try and avoid them and learn the difference between the scams and open-source projects.
Thanks. You'll have to teach me that. I'll pm you on steemit.chat.
You should follow my @cryptochannel account.
Going to start posting more actively there soon! 20% of the portfolio goes to steemit users!
Ok. I will do that now.
An Accurate prediction, a man like him can only tell. The see the future demands and just create product according to it. Now he is the richest man in the world.
Good point. These blockchain technologies will help us in breaking the monopolies held by central banks , big banks and governments over our lives...this is the future so open your eyes and take action.
I remember his AMA on reddit when he answered a question about Bitcoin along the lines of "bitcoin may not be the one but I am certain the technology will disrupt the future".
Yes, That's why he is such a successful man.
Blockchain technology is the next big thing after the internet. Governments and Banks are slow to accept cryptocurrencies because of ther own sellfish interests however the technology will disrupt their monopolies and give power back to the common people..Thanks for sharing
Incredible how fast all this is developing. This moment in the video seems to remote already. How the world will be 25 years from now?
That's what Dan is talking about with EOS.
