What's BigPay?

BigPay is an E-Wallet which comes with a Physical Mastercard that was introduced by the CEO of AirAsia, Tony Fernandes who believe that it could worth more than AirAsia.

I have been using BigPay for almost 2 months now and here are my reviews on BigPay throughout my local daily usage and overseas travelling.

Sign Up process is easy as filling up your details (Name, IC, Phone No, Address & Referral) and security process (IC & Selfie), then you'll need to wait for them to deliver the card (Usually 3-5 business days) to your address that you've keyyed in.

Tracking Transaction, Payment & Analytics

Have you ever had that problem on tracking transaction or payment that is displaying on your bank account that you had absolutely no clue sometimes unless referred back to the receipt, that is if you didn't throw it away.

Bank Statement displaying Sale Debit only

By using the BigPay card to do all your payment whether is offline retail shopping, online purchases or paying bills, all your transactions will be recorded on your BigPay app showcasing the details of it shown on the screenshot below.

Transac Amount, Merchant's name, Date, Time, Color Coded Category, Tags and add-ons Receipt or Notes for own referencing.

All recorded transaction will be recorded and compiled into the analytics section, where you are able to track your spending usage throughout the month on real-time as you use your BigPay.

All usage is categorized to let you know which category you used the most throughout the month and there's an option to export the report out if you would love to. (Currently, support Excel format only)

Top-Up, Security & BIG Points

As BigPay's card is a Prepaid Debit Mastercard, it must be top up first through either directly from your favourite bank account or through any Debit/Credit card.

Top Up any amount you like into your BigPay but the minimum to earn 1 BIG Point (BP) is RM50, 2 BPs for RM 100 and so on. Using BigPay to do transaction or payment also earns you BPs as well and once you saved enough BPs, you're able to redeems those BPs for AirAsia flight tickets and sometimes there are even promotion on those redeem as well (500BPs for One-Way ticket depend on destination)

There are many other ways of earning BPs as well beside using BigPay, you can check out ways to earn more BIG Points through their AirAsia's partners and merchants, HERE

In the unfortunate event that you lost your BigPay card, need not to worry as you can Freeze your card directly from BigPay App and replace it via the support center (A small fee of RM 20 will be occured for replacement)

Your BigPay app is protected by your own 6-digit pins when you first started setting up your account via the sign up process and you're able to include Touch ID as another layer protection should your phone support (as of Facial Recognition, I'm not sure about that).

By default, your BigPay cardpin is the same as the 6-digit pins that you register but you're able to change it different from that via the Security option on your profile.

Zero Fees Paying AirAsia Flights & Better Exchange Currency Rate

If you're a frequent AirAsia flyer, you'll notice that AirAsia will incurred a small fees regardless when you're using different bank's Debit/Credit card (RM12.72) or Online Banking (RM 4.24) for payment. With BigPay card, you do not need to worries the fees anymore as it is waived as shown on the screenshot below.

Following on my recent oversea trip to Kraków, Poland to attend SteemFest 3 is where I've tested out the currency exchange rate that BigPay claim to be cheaper or similar to online rate.

BigPay uses your phone GPS to locate your location and let you know the approximate exchange rate during your travel. As Malaysia's local currency exchange doesn't change MYR -> PLN, I need to change MYR -> EUR first then change EUR -> PLN at Poland which can loss a lot into fees.

Best of all, BigPay doesn't incur any fees when you use BigPay card oversea for on any payment or transaction (until further notice by BigPay). Here's a personal tip, choose the local currency that you're at if payment is given choice of the local currency or MYR via the terminal.

P2P Transactions for FREE & Split Bills Function

When it comes to paying eating out bills for meetup/gathering together with your friends or colleagues, usually the scenario will be one of you is going to pay for the bill first then the rest will pay back either with cash or bank transfer.

With Bank Transfer, you will need to ask for banking details (Account Number, Full Name and Which bank) which is troublesome. Now with BigPay, you are able to Send/Request payment to another BigPay user without asking for details except for either they are already on your contact or simply scan their QR code and send the money.

Beside manual send & request payment, BigPay also implement the split bill function for every transaction. Simply use your BigPay card to make payment, and use the Split Bill function on below and select the BigPay user you wish to split with and send the request away.
