Sunday thoughts on Saturday continuing the sermon series The Price.. Today’s sermon is on the topic of American problems. Mind you, the sermon was short and we spent most of our time in prayer for the topics listed below.

Last week the topic of the The price of adoption was discussed. The price Christ paid to adopt us into the kingdom of heaven.

I Peter Chapter 18

Today we continue that conversation of the price with problems we face everyday living in America.

John 16:31

The fear will cause you to scatter. Like Peter, we think we are stronger than we actually are. Jesus knows it won’t be the first time we turn away from Christ. It will be more than once. We fail more often than not. Even so, worry not for God has overcome the world.

World issues

Countries in conflict. Countries we can’t even step into. Places were governments have failed. Places without schools or filled with propaganda.

Problems into level

At least I’m not there or at least we don’t have those issues. We think in America we’re doing okay, but there is a spiritual sickness here that we need to open our eyes too. If we think at least we have water, internet, and other resources then we are okay. Well, we fail to realize the problem has never been a lack of resources in America. It’s a lack of spiritual guidance. Our people, our homes, our communities, and our cities have issues we need to correct before reaching out to the world.

Americans want to make the world their baby

They want to help others. They want to feed others, but we forget to feed ourselves. We forget to make ourselves healthy first before feeding the world. If we go out to help, but come back to chaos what good have we really done.

Our church

We are reaching out to our community. Looking at families that are living in sin. Families that think it’s okay for kids to be without food, that think boyfriend and girlfriend living together outside of holy matrimony is okay, and that think it’s okay to be in a relationship with the same sex. It’s not okay, it’s a spiritual issue, and we need to address it. That goes far deeper than what we see.

We stop shortly after and allow the leaders and volunteers to each pray for the following:

Our time in prayer

  1. Foster children/underprivileged kids (Psalm 10:14)
  2. Our leaders in America (president) (Romans 13:1)
  3. Our churches in America (Matthew 9:37-38)
  4. Our schools (Matthew 19:14)
  5. The unemployed/homeless (Deuteronomy 15:11)
  6. Families in Deerfield beach (Malachi 4:6)
  7. Pastors (Jeremiah 3:15)
  8. Teachers (Luke 6:40)
  9. Funds for block party 2018 (Proverbs 10:4)
  10. Power in the church (Acts 1:8)

Sounds like it was a great service especially with some time spend in prayer. In prayer we find the answers and we find the power of the Holy Spirit! May God bless you abundantly dear Kubby!
