भक्त ने कहा महाराज मैं आपको
एक डण्डा दे देता हूँ। उस डण्डे को भोजन करते हुए इधर उधर
घुमाओ जिससे बिल्ली को लगा जाएगा तो वह भाग जायेगी। सूरदास
जीवन भर उसी तरह से डण्डा घुमाता रहा और गुजर गया।
उसके बाद उसका चेला वहां रहने लगा। उसने कहा कि जिस
प्रकार गुरुजी डण्डा चलाते थे उसी प्रकार वह भी डण्डा चलाने लगा।
वहां डण्डा पंथ शुरू हो गया। कोई भी शिष्य बनता तो पहले उसे
डण्डा पकड़ा देते जिससे वह ही घुमाये। बहुत सी जमात हो गयी।
अब तो यहां पढ़ा लिखा गद्दी पर बैठ गया वह भी डण्डा चलाता था।
एक दिन उस गाँव में कोई अनुभवी सन्त आ गया। वह डण्डा
पंथी के यहां ठहरा । भोजन के समय साथ में एक-एक डण्डा भी
आया। अनुभवी सन्त ने सोचा कि सब के पास डण्डा क्यों है। इतने
में कहा कि हरीहरी लगाओ भोग सब ने भोग लगाना शुरू किया।
साथ में डण्डा भी चला रहे थे।
