Reforestation, Bamboo, Hemp, Water filters. Brainstorming New Cryptocommunities.
Some cryptocoins are short term pump and dumps from greedy hype-machines. Steem proves that crypto currency needs to be tied to something in the material world to gain traction. Once you bind a coin to something people can touch, magic happens. Linking crypto to social media sparks imagination, creativity and hard work. This elevates an alt coin from being just a short term speculative instrument, and gives a currency iron weight in the physical universe.
If Steem is a cryptocurrency based on social media, what else can alt coins do? What about crypto communities for specific environmental goals, like reforestation?
People know that fiat/debt is a dead end. Social media users want to pour their value into meaningful activities. Something that helps Earth. Every time you move money from the occult debt-economy to the open crypto-economy, Earth takes a small step towards financial transparency.
If we can use a competing-fee cryptocurrency market to lower transaction fees, we can move billions of dollars we normal waste on transaction fees back into the organic economy, and create a new, fair financial industry, running parallel with the old one.
By 2017, we could see more:
- Alt coins based on Reforestation projects.
- Industry specific alt coins. What if major water manufacturers got together and made a coin accepted by all water and water filtration vendors?
- Alt coins based on industrial hemp and bamboo (two materials that could help end deforestation and environmental destruction.) Hemp coins have already been invented, but maybe they were ahead of their time in 2014. We might see a revival of previously shelved ideas over the next couple of years.

Environmental communities can use Steem to accomplish a specific goal. What if we put more effort into reforestation? Could Steem help crowdfund more re-wilding projects? India planted 50 million trees in 24 hours the other week:
Could Steem become a major currency that ends up powering 10,000s of real world adventures?
Crypto is a bet on human ingenuity.
What crypto powered communities could appear over the next 2 years?

While we are all together do not understand that the forest and the trees is something that allows you to live, breathe, and we continue to wake up to cut down trees for the sake of momentary advantages
I hope we focus more on reforestation in the future, instead of deforestation. If India can plant 50 million trees in 24 hours, we could plant a billion worldwide in a month. That would help with soil erosion, cleaning the air, food supplies and even job creation.
yes in theory.... but the idea is to empower people along the way and PAY tree planters. Volunteer trees usually die. Check the stats. But paying people actually respects their labor, lifts them out of poverty esp on the Equator. This is not about HYPE or quantity. What good is a planted tree if no one returns to manage and take care of it. Trees are like children and truly do need some TLC the first 4 years to grow robust and healthy and give us all the services they should be famous and respected for... not against anything here with my comment.
