Emergency Mandatory Gridcoin upgrade by block 855500!
Please upgrade your Gridcoin clients by block number 855500!
There is a mandatory upgrade which will fix the windows client sync issues that users have been experiencing the last couple days, it is critical that you upgrade to the newest version so that you remain on a valid blockchain! The upgrade should go smoothly, all exchanges and services have been notified.

As of approx. 3 days ago, some nodes started logging the error 'BAD CPID' - and we started to have a consensus issue.
The root cause of the issue is that our 6 month beacon timestamp invalidation process did not handle nodes who stayed online for extended periods, therefore, we actually need a stronger business logic rule in place.
The upcoming patch implements a rule that invalidates beacons greater than 6 months old explicitly. (It also allows a beacon to be sent without rebooting if the current privately owned beacon is > 6 months old).
Progress:
The change has been coded and requires a mandatory upgrade. I notified CCEX to take us down for maintenance. The mandatory switchover is at block 855000.As you may know Denravonska and the other new volunteers have been doing an excellent job. Therefore, we are testing Github to ensure the second branch with its many commits has not broken our build process. I just tested that, and we are still doing fine in that respect.
We should have a mandatory release in approx 1 hour.
If anyone is involved with our partners or other exchanges, please let them know to take us down for maintenance.
After block 855000 the network will disconnect from other nodes who have not upgraded.
The mandatory version has been released, go download and install it ASAP!
I've upgraded to the new version, which moved me past the 852xxx block that I was stuck on, but I'm now stuck on 854401 (~100 blocks behind the current block). Do I need to re-download the blocks?
edit: i see that 'grctest' got stuck on this block as well and ended his post with"onward to 51%", which i'm taking to mean that i should just be patient: https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-Research/issues/246#issuecomment-289333410
I got stuck there too, I deleted everything except walletbackups, wallet.dat and geidcoinresearch.conf and rebuilt the chain and am back in sync
How have you gotten on with your client upgrade? Have you successfully synced yet?
Hi CM! I was fully synced last night and staking on the correct chain. I shut off the client overnight, and today after restarting, I seem to be stuck on 855631. It's only been trying to sync for about 30 minutes though.
edit: still not syncing. not sure what to do.
