Reccy for *ELATE*

I shot this for a local cosmetics company, ELATE Cosmetics.

OK- THE SHOOT!

The company had done most of the work for this shoot if I'm honest. She cast the models, decided on clothing and props, and obviously makeup. I was there to pull it all together and make it look the way she saw it in her head. She wanted bright and juicy but soft.

So to achieve this light, I used a very large modifier, and feathered it.

That's it!

This is the beauty of simple light.

I used a 72" Westcott bounce umbrella with an Elinchrom D-Lite shooting into it. The D-lite can't handle this umbrella so I actually had them on two separate stands. I put them up fairly high, as you can see in the catchlight, pointing down. Being an umbrella, there was enough spill that my backdrop was fairly nicely lit, and it wasn't *too" soft. You can still detect the flattering, strongish shadows at the side of her face and under her chin.

As far as feathering goes, see the diagram below to understand just how feathered I had this light. The majority of the light was actually hitting ME.

Oh and if you're curious that backdrop is Savage Universal seamless paper 9-foot in Autumn.

There was barely enough room in the little "studio" for my setup.

This shoot was so beautiful. All of the models were unique. I will be sure to share more over time. You will love them!
