Mexican Food and South-African Beer
Mexican Food and South-African Beer
Over the weekend, my lovely wife and I decided to have some dinner at our local Mexican restaurant. We wanted to go for some time and never got around to visit this place. We were actually on our way to another restaurant, when we drove past Jo Mexico (our local Mexican restaurant) and there and then made a U-turn and and stopped at Jo Mexico
In anticipation of the hot food, I immediately decided to have a nice cold beer to prepare my mouth for the heat to come!! I decided on the Zwakala Weiss Below you can see the label, this beer is brewed in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Below you can see the front of the bottle.
Below you can see that this beer has 5% alcohol and comes in a 340 ml bottle. They say we don't have to escape to the mountains to feel refreshed, we just have to drink this beer!!
I took their advice and immediately poured the beer into the glass, resulting in a nice white head on-top of the beautiful golden liquid!!
I slowly sipped on this nice beer and magically felt refreshed - Nice!! The beer went down very nicely!!
Now that I was ready, I ordered my nice Mexican food!! I ordered a chickichanga, it came in a tin plate as can be seen below.
Below is a close up for the food, this was real tasty, but not to hot!!
After the food, I ordered a Wild Honey Blonde beer, the name was wild, but the taste was average, actually, below average, will never order another one again.
Below you can see the sorry excuse of a head!! No good!!
Below you can see my wife enjoying a Margarita!!
I loved the restaurant, the food was great, and my company even better!! The Zwakala Weiss was also good, all in all, we had a great evening out
I took these photos with my iPhone, in Pretoria in the Gauteng Province of South Africa.
I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I did taking it.

Nice and surely will vote for you as who's knows about beer better than you :D
Thank you very much!!
Glad to see you took the wife on a date. I might need to hunt down a beer from South Africa. Never had the pleasure of trying one.
I almost always take my wife along, she is just not always on the photos!! You should be able to get the commercial beers, like Castle and Black label if you search, I don't think you will easily get the craft beers. Perhaps you must come over!!
Nice
Thank you.
Sounds like a great night out. Definitely stick with those beers on the craft beer list! 🍻
Yes, I always try the craft beers, if they are available.
That looks delicious! Is that a hand-pie/pocket with beans, meat, and sauce?
I like the name "mountain Weiss" I wish I had more info about the yeast. It clearly has a lot of wheat in it, as is traditional for a weissbeer.
Thanks for the great comment. These guys do have a website, I don't know if they will tell you their ingredients, but you can always try, you can e-mail them from the website: https://www.zwakalabrewery.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAqIHTBRAVEiwA6TgJwzMcaooT9A_H8FcPpeBSMaysE9phkEajyzU-QbZkWcpJUT82D2q_MBoCTr8QAvD_BwE
The food is almost like a pie pocket, it was quite delicious!1

Yes, it is good to have dinner with hot evenings with a bottle of beer. And we have -20 frosts, not that beer, we do not want to go out. Thank you for the interesting post.
