Tipples Beer Review #102 - Nomad Brewing Yuzu Ramune Gose (Aust)
A yuzu flavoured gose which appeals a lot as I love the extreme citrus tartness of yuzu as a flavour. It seems to have hit in a big way in the cafe/beer/cocktail scene in Australia.
Also Nomad a pretty strong brewery, they are based in Sydney, started by one of the brewers from Birra Del Borgo who in themselves are one of the best craft breweries in Italy. They tend to do interesting beers are the edgier end of the craft beer spectrum.
I must admit it's a stunning looking beer, quite happy with this photo too, of camera flash at the rear right for the photography geeks out there.
The colour of this brew is a light straw yellow, a touch hazy. The smells is faint and of generic sour beer rather than any distinctive yuzu smell.
The taste is also a little unusual it's much fuller than I was expecting. a silky, udon noddle - like mouthfeel. The sourness does sit on your lips after you've finished drinking, it's really unusual and generally speaking enjoyable but not the tart yuzu bomb I was hoping for.
