Club Premium Cerveza, Ecuadorian Beer!
Best enjoyed high up on the Andean plains, Club Premium Cerveza surpassed all my expectations of what an Ecuadorian beer would be like. Most people don't associate Ecuador with beer and Ecuador certainly isn't known for its beer but this beer was pretty good. Ecuador has plenty of fresh water, they have all sorts of climate zones for growing barley and hops, thus they make a fine brew.
At 4000m above sea level, it doesn't take much to feel light headed. I enjoyed this beer after looking over the scenic crater lake of Quilotoa. Ecuador had a few other brews to offer but this one was my favourite; Club Premium is easy drinking and is available almost everywhere in the country. Hearty soups, meaty feasts, and potatoes all make for excellent pairings with this fine beverage.
Here's another place I enjoyed Club Premium, perched in a cafe over a canyon with epic views. The beer goes down smooth and is very enjoyable on its own. Perfect for quenching one's thirst after some heavy duty sightseeing or an arduous hike.
The beer has been brewed since 1966 in Quito, Ecuador. If you are ever there and like beer I am sure you will try it. The locals probably thought it a little strange I was doing beer photoshoots but I'm just trying to add something new to beer Saturdays.
