Beer Review - Golden Ale

Its getting closer to summer and time to lighten things up a bit. How about a nice golden ale. What say you?

Stats

  • Brewery - Moylan's Brewery - Novato, California
  • Alcohol Content: 5.0% by volume
  • IBUs: 28
  • Company Description: Our Celts Golden Ale is gold in color, sweet and fruity, with a slight dryness and crisp hoppiness in the finish. This California Golden Ale is the perfect "session" beer - an excellent ale that complements all occasions.

Presentation
As with all Moylan's beers, this comes in a 22 oz dark brown bottle with a vinyl wrap around label, standard for all Moylan beers also. The label has the classic Moylan M logo, with brewery name and beer name prominently displayed on the front. There is a nice little blurb about the beer on one side (see above) with brewers signatures, while the other side has the awards they have garnered with this particular beer.

The Beer

  • Appearance: As you can see in the photo above, it is a clear, golden color with a very nice white foam head, which dissipated in a few minutes with some lacing on the glass.
  • Aroma: It was kind of muted but sweet malts.
  • Taste and Mouthfeel: It had quite a bit of carbonation but was on the dry side and light. As with the aroma, it had a sweet fruity taste, which were the main ones I got from it. Not really hoppy and but crisp and refreshing.
  • Drinkability: A very drinkable beer, light and not high in abv, referred to as a "session" beer.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I gave this a decent 3.50 rating on Untappd where its overall rating from 653 persons was 3.25. I found it to be an easy drinking beer, sweet with a slight fruity taste, smooth and light. A very good summer beer. Moylan's makes good beer but they label all their beers as live and to keep refrigerated so they add yeast right before bottling. The one complaint I might have about Moylans if they only offer beers in 22 oz bottles or larger draught from brewery. It would be nice to see some 12 or 16 oz containers.

3.50/5

This will be my Week 49 beer for the #beersaturday contest. Head on over and give me some love there. Cheers!

Nice review and photos!!

@therealwolf 's created platform smartsteem scammed my post this morning (mothersday) that was supposed to be for an Abused Childrens Charity. Dude literally stole from abused children that don't have mothers ... on mothersday.
