HOPPY HOUR: REDHOOK IPA
"It is too late to drink", says the angel on my left shoulder.
"What if you crack open the best beer you've ever had?", says the devil on my right shoulder.
Angel: "You know you are tired. Just get some sleep."
Devil: "They say beer is one of the best sleep aids."
Well. I'll give it a go provided that it truly helps me get sleepy.
Seattle has produced some of the most amazing music of the 90s and still makes pretty good music now (Thank you, Subpop).
Let's see how they brew.
First sip is "I could squeeze an orange slice into this and chill in my backyard on a summer day" light. Slight bitterness that reminds me of an ale flavor, but I will forge ahead.
The sip is crisp without the bite of some IPAs I've had. The third sip forces me to realize I've already finished the first glass. Time to fill up!
Sweet Seattle, this is a gentle beer. Seems like a perfect beer to bring to a IPA 101 course. Wait a second. Why can't people major in beer in college?
The wine world has sommeliers. Why can't the beer world have beer-oh-yeahs? The world is too cruel.... that's why.
Not sure if it is the beer or the hour, but my writing is a bit more playful than usual. I'll make a note of this.
The finish is smooth nice with no spice. This is the perfect party beer. With a 6.2% abv, I can see why I finished the bottle faster than I have with other Hoppy Hour tastings.
I like Hoppy hour!
Haha informative and funny little review, great stuff! Get some Texas beers in the mix! If Freetail's brews are available in your area they're a great beer to try!
Ok. I will try to wrangle a Freetail.
What part of the country are you in?
massachusetts, us of a
Solid beer state. Ever been to Trillium? I hear good things about that brewery
I know someone who regularly goes. I need to get out there.
Yeah. There is a microbrew movement going on here and the demand for fresh beer ingredients has enabled even more microbrews to flourish. The owner Homefield Brewery wrote a book about this movement called Beer Terrain that sums up what is going on.
Interesting.. I'll have to check that out. In the meantime,
Cheers!
