The biggest advice is:make sure you keep everything clean. If you think you need to clean something again, do it. Iodophor is your friend.
Get the joy of homebrewing. Try a kit. I recommend if you don't use a kit go with a partial mash option.
Additional recommendation- find a homebrewing supply place and see if they do a class or have a local group of zymurgests who will let a new brewer borrow stuff for a first brew.
We inherited our first set-up and brewed with an experienced friend for the first 2 beers. We have had friends join us for brewing who later started brewing on their own. I found it really helps to have someone to give instructions the first time. Because it is WAY easier than expected but still takes some attention to detail.
