Pub Review - 'Hop In' - Zagreb, Croatia
A cozy little neighbourhood pub. This place is a clear example that craft craze in Zagreb is in full bloom!

HOP IN is out of the way of tourist-filled venues and there is no clear advertising around the city that would lead you there. It still manages to drive people to visit. From what I gathered, an entrepreneurial beer-loving guy refurbished a family basement and turned it into a pub.
Expect 10-15 tables and you might have to order your first at the bar during rush hour. Experiences with waiters are mixed. In Croatia don’t expect out-of-the-way politeness and you will have a good time. Tipping is not that common. They might suggest something if you are lost in translation. There are more than few options scribbled in chalk on the wall.

No food there but last time we good a decent sized bowl of peanuts with our beer. A nice gesture! I like having something to gnaw on, especially if I try tasting more than one craft in earnest. It neutralises the taste of the previous one.
It looks a bit overpriced but it is hard to find cheaper craft in other bars. Maybe if it is on offer. However, seeing how they are not in the center I did expect about 10% lower prices.
Smoking is allowed. You might get a curt reply if you order something non-alcoholic. When in Rome...
Generally, I like the vibe. If it is close to you - great. If you have not visited any other craft bar in Zagreb do not put this one at the top of your list!

mmmm, Zagrebskog Pivo
But hopefully not Zagrebačka Pivovara - the biggest macro brewery. Though they produce Tomislav, a nice Baltic porter.
